    We are a family of four with two beautiful children between the ages of 6-9 (boy and girl) on Bowen Island. Dad works in the city (in some days), while mom works at home (some days in the city) as a photographer. We also have a cat. Meow.🐱✨

    We have the best of both worlds living on an island, and also only one hour from the fun city of Vancouver!🕊✨

    We are an energetic family who loves sports - dancing, softball, soccer, ice skating, exercising, water sports, etc. Therefore, we prefer someone who is athletic as well. Kindly disclose any physical health (and mental) condition that may deter from participating in activities. Again, we prefer someone that can be active and social with us.

    We are looking for a highly optimistic (happy) person (woman), who is at least in their 20s who loves children to be part of our family. The person must be natural and experienced with kids, genuinely loves family life, and understands family dynamic (the highs and lows). We prefer someone who is always smiling, and have a happy attitude. Someone who loves to love and love to be loved by our family. Must be open to endless possibilities. 🕊✨

    We live on a beautiful island made up of barely five thousand residents. With a tight knit community, it's a great place to meet people and also enjoy nature only one hour away from the main city of Vancouver. I also love to cook, and has recipes. I will be teaching you to cook from our recipes, and recipe book. You will learn how to cook. And we also look forward to taste some of your traditional food from your home country.

    *IF YOU ARE A CREATIVE - PHOTOGRAPHER, MAKEUP ARTIST, WARDROBE STYLIST, AND WOULD LOVE TO INTERN, KINDLY INCLUDE IN THE MESSAGE.*

    We are offering a loft with a king size bed at our cottage. The loft will be your own space in a 500 square feet cottage. Part of that cottage will be shared as it is a photography studio with an office where mommy/daddy works in some days. Therefore, the space must be kept clean at all times. Everything must be put away. Your own bathroom is in the main house.

    WorkAway Responsibilities include cleaning the bathroom and sleeping area at least once a month, and get it ready for the next guest. Maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen, and disposal of garbage. Also, if you prefer eating with us (which what we would prefer) you must cook two breakfast and dinner during the week, and one lunch/dinner in the weekend. You must help clean up after each meals. You are also free to eat on your own and have your meals planned.

    We are happy to include standard food (snacks, specialty drinks, and specialty food not included but we may offer) throughout your stay. You provide your own food for snacks , picnics , friends, and travelling. We are a (mostly) gluten-free, dairy-free family, and we eat lots of fruits and veggies, (free-range/wild) white meat only and seafood (with cheat days). We mostly eat local and organic foods. Occasionally eats red meat. You may plan your meals around what we have in our fridge/freezer and pantry. You are however free to bake some cookies, and other desserts on your free time to share with the family. 🕊✨

    We do love taking trips to the city and eat at fancy restaurants. We most likely invite you to join us as you will be part of our family! During our time together, we would love it if you live in the moment with us. We prefer to have good laughs with the kids, and have good quality time. Husband is in the film industry and works a lot on the computer and phone, and mom also works on the computer a lot and on the phone... But when we spend time together, we prefer to put our phones away and have quality time with the kids. We expect you to do the same. Kindly no phones please.

    A schedule will be made that details daily task (Monday thru Friday). To focus on these tasks, you should be rested from jet lag or a previous busy schedule... Again no phone during these hours.

    The first month is usually spent training you so there may or may not be a schedule yet as we would prefer that you settle in with us first and feel comfortable. The training will be on and off as we do have kids and unexpected things do happen (kids get sick or hurt at school, mom and dad having a bad day at work, the weather, etc). We prefer to spend the first or two months more relaxed with the schedule as you learn the routine of our household.

    PLEASE NOTE THAT OUR SCHEDULE CHANGES ALL THE TIME AS THIS IS A FAMILY ENVIRONMENT WITH SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN - SUMMER* FALL* WINTER* SPRING

    You will have weekends off.

    We would also like to go out on a date night and therefore we will pay you to babysit the children for extra hours ($15/hr to start). That will give you a chance to make some cash and have spending money while you are here.🕊✨

    From September to June, the kids have school so usually 2 hours help in the morning - cooking, possibly walking kids to the bus, and some tidying from 7am to 9am. Then you have the rest of the morning to yourself. And maybe also the afternoon.

    In the afternoon, I may require help in the photo studio but this will be discussed in advance. I am very specific with the type of people that is allowed in my work environment. So I may or may not include this.

    Later in the afternoon after 2pm, possibly pick up kids from school then take them to their after school activities. This is why you must be a confident driver for this.

    Required help in some evenings to make dinner. Then some babysitting possibly 2-3 hours. Kids should be in bed by 8.

    You will have some free time in between to go out exploring. Go out for a walk and explore the trails, meet friends, etc.

    February to August, expect the schedule to change and gardening added to the the schedule.

    We would love a copy of current resume with three emergency contacts. And because children are involved, we would like a copy of police background (happy to reimburse cost) check as well (please keep the receipt). You may bring printed copies and present at day of arrival.

    PLEASE ALSO MAKE SURE TO GET TRAVEL INSURANCE.

    Also, we do not pick up at the airport. It is your responsibility to get to the island on your own.
    From YVR airport:
    - purchase a Compass Card right outside the airport at the train station as this can be used for both train and bus rides with great discounts
    - take a 15 minute train to the city (Vancouver)
    - take 257 bus from West Georgia and Granville (after you step outside the train station) to Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal (35 minutes without traffic)
    - apply for free Experience Card at the ticketing booth for great discounts for the ferry
    - take Queen of Capilano ferry to Snug Cove, Bowen Island (20 minutes)
    - we should be able to pick you up when you arrive on the island before 8pm (5-7 minutes)
    - OR spend $50 - $100 in taxi/uber to Horsheshoe Bay Ferry terminal but we do not recommend it unless you arrive at night
    - if your flight is delayed and you arrive at night and miss the ferry, it is your responsibility to make arrangements to stay at a hotel

    Please arrive on a Friday (this allows you to rest the whole weekend and start well rested on Monday) and leave on a Friday/Saturday/Sunday. The last ferry to the island is at 10:20pm. But we will be asleep and there will be no bus to our house. Your plane should arrive by noon to give you enough time in case your flight is delayed, and we can pick you up at the terminal when you arrive on the island.

    Kindly share driving experience, as it would come handy. We live only 5-7 minutes (drive) away from the ferry. And about 20 minutes walk. Bus is also available during the day but the schedule varies. No taxi/Uber on the island. Walking is fun in the trails to the beach. Guests are not allowed in the cottage.
