Description
Dear workawayers,
We are Veronika, Emmanuel and Christina- three siblings in their thirties, early fourties, living with their families and/or in a shared flat situation, close to the old town of Hall in Tirol. From about 2015 to 2021 we renovated our childhood home- a 70-year-old farmhouse- for our parents and us. We created four apartments in a mostly DIY and ecological manner, which means we’ve mainly used wood, straw and clay. And with the help of dozens of Friends and Volunteers! In August 2021 we’ve “finished” the house project and moved into our new homes. There are still some things to do in the house, but last year we decided to transform our huge garden (about 8000 sqm) into an abundant permaculture oasis! Therefore we are looking for Workawayers again. We need to adapt/create infrastructure, like functional storage places, pathways and water management systems. There is also a lot of garden work, like cutting or digging out bushes, making firewood, mowing etc. These parts will be done with either one of us, but also our mother Hermine always needs help with the maintainance of the already very beautiful zones in the garden. There could also be some cooking, child care, looking after the chickens or harvesting. We always try to find interesting things to do, try to work together with you, and there are no special skills required. The working hours are from Monday to Friday, four hours per day, but this is negotiable for sure. We are flexible on whatever plans you may have. We like to hang out at a bonfire, have a chat, a drink and/or a meal together. Your place of residence is a caravan that was built by Emmanuel. We will provide you with lunches on workdays. Breakfast, dinner and lunches on weekends you can prepare yourself in the kitchen in the caravan or our communal area in the house. The town of Hall in Tirol is close to Innsbruck, the “Capital of the Alps” of Austria. You can go there by bike, bus or train. Hall has also some nice cafes and bars, and the cultural life in Innsbruck is also quite appealing. There are a lot of skiing, hiking and biking opportunities in close proximity. If you have questions still, please ask right away! Also, you can check our small website of the building project, to get a feel of the place.
We’re looking forward to hearing from you!

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are working on our sustainable living project together. Usually, all the family members are around to have a talk about any topic which is on your mind. Help never gets boring, there is always something to do. Our coffee breaks and lunch breaks are a lot of fun and we enjoy having helpers around very much.

This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
In the garden we grow vegetables, nuts and fruit. There may be some weeding or harvesting. We are very open to suggestions and ideas for (permaculture) planing/advice.

You can sleep in our self built caravan with a small kitchen. The bathroom is located in the house.
We are flexible with the needs and wishes of everyone, but these are the basic conditions:
+ around 20h a week (Saturday and Sunday off)
+ Own room and kitchen, shared bathroom
+ vegetarian lunch on workdays
+ Breakfast and Dinner is sort of DIY but we will provide the food
+ Experience tells us that two weeks are nicer than a short visit, but of course you can stay for only a weekWhat else ...
Hall is a small picturesque historic town, with nice cafés and bars. Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol is just around the corner, reachable by bike, bus or train.
If you are a sporty person, the area has a lot to offer: there are tons of cablecars, tracks and paths for hiking, biking, swimming, skiing, etc. There are also opportunities for more laid-back activities, like cultural, subcultural and sightseeing stuff. We can always provide good advice and suggestions!A little more information
