    Description

Spend some time with our family on a farm in eastern Victoria, in the beautiful Gippsland Lakes region (around 3 and a half hours east of Melbourne). We don't mind if you come as an individual or couple to enjoy a stay with us including all meals and accommodation - you get your own self-contained accommodation.

We have three children (aged 15, 13, 11) so there is plenty of interacting with them - and they love meeting people from other parts of the globe. On the farm we currently have cows, sheep, two horses, a goat, chickens, ducks, plus a dog and cat. It's a lovely place to live and also keeps us very busy alongside our other work commitments. Our Workaway volunteers help us keep on top of things around the house, farm and in the garden, whilst enjoying a taste of Aussie family life, in the country.

We've lots of different things you can learn and help out with (the reality of living on a farm is you never really catch up!). We'll help you settle in and become familiar with the tasks and/or tools required but just bear in mind that our own work commitments require you to work independently most of the time, as we generally both work off farm.

An extra pair of hands to help out with farm projects and general household duties is always welcomed. This could include working in the veggie garden, orchard, building a greenhouse, fixing broken stuff (kids just do that) and a mixture of farming jobs i.e. fixing fences, moving cows, or tractor work (chopping wood is also a regular task around 6 months of the year!).

Staying at least 2 weeks is ideal but get in touch if you're interested in a shorter or longer stay and we can let you know if this is available. If you're catching public transport, you can travel to Bairnsdale by train (from Melbourne) and we will meet you at the station (our farm is located 25 minutes from the station). Just be aware that our farm is situated in a small hamlet of 400 people, and there are no shops in walking distance. You're welcome to accompany us into the nearby towns of Lakes Entrance, Metung, and potentially borrow a car or motorbike if you're confident and capable to drive/ride.

We are a friendly, welcoming family who value the mutual benefits that come from being Workaway hosts. We've been hosting for many years now! We are active members of our local community and are confident you will have a fun, immersive unforgettable experience with us.
