    Description

** due to a couple of cancellations, we have availability for some of September & October **

We're a retired couple, relatively active, with no pets, leading a fairly local, quiet, outdoor life.
Our quiet semi rural property, is on the outskirts of Pomona,
in the beautiful Noosa Shire hinterland of the Sunshine Coast.
Bordering extensive bushland, exchange guests enjoy a beautiful separate living area,
with private bathroom & kitchenette. The local kangaroos graze by the windows each day.

We've been offering various types of exchanges for a few years,
and been fortunate to have had some wonderful cultural exchanges.
We have restrictions in what we are able to offer,
so we ask applicants to read all our profile carefully.
Once we’ve made contact, we are able to send more details.

We have an extensive subtropical garden with a large collection of aroids, orchids, ferns & foliage,
and we need help with various types of garden maintenance.
Skilled or semi skilled exchanges work best for us.
Exchange guests need to be reasonably fit, strong and active.
We are also building a ‘little house’ so offers of skilled help are also welcome.
Also, experienced videographers and photographers would be more than welcome to
to help complete the 'catalogue' my hybrids & of the rare plants in the garden.

We can offer Homestay with or without meals; one of us is vegetarian, the other not.
We offer stays initially for one week, though where there is a good match for us all,
we may also welcome longer stays.
We've had some wonderful exchange guests that fitted in really well stayed for 3-4 weeks.
*Please note: we have no alcohol or recreational drugs on the property at all*
so please do not apply if for any reason this restriction will not suit you.

We’re about 90 mins north of central Brisbane.

Pomona is a relaxed 20 walk away, with plenty of shops, cafes, community activities,
thriving weekly market, train station & regular buses.
Mount Cooroora is visible from our deck, and is an enjoyable climb for many.

Bushwalking, off road bike riding, etc are on the doorstep......and there are many local classes and groups...tai chi, pilates, yoga, etc

Cooroy is 5mins drive with more buses to Noosa, Eumundi, Yandina, Nambour and beyond.

Noosa & it’s beautiful beaches, is about 25 minutes drive.

    I'm in a wonderful community choir 🎶🎶 which welcomes visitors;
there is a wonderful Acoustic Night regularly in Cooran (choir often performs) & local venues host a range of local live music & cultural events.

Dhamma Rasmi, the Queensland Vipassana Centre is nearby, and the peaceful meditation centre is a haven for our local wildlife. We can certainly arrange a tour for any exchange guests who'd like to visit.

We love our life here, work hard and are happy to welcome genuine exchanges into our home.

    Accommodation

Stairs lead to a separate living space with bathroom & small kitchenette....
There is one Queen size bed, so this is suitable for a single person or couple.
We have a lovely outdoor kitchen and would expect to share one meal a day.
Helpers make their own breakfast, & lunch, drinks etc.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

    Famous local beaches are 25 mins away;
The hinterland has many beautiful walking tracks, mountains to climb
There are lovely local art galleries, a beautiful Botanical Garden, numerous local markets, choirs, nearby sport & exercise/activity groups/classes.

A vehicle or at least a driving licence is very helpful.
Any Helper enquiring would need to be fit enough to walk to town for their free time etc, to catch a bus or to go to the local cafes etc. as we cannot always help with transport.

We also appreciate our own privacy, so Workaway guests would need to agree to go out in some of their time off ….the area is very beautiful…and a pleasure to explore… so this is not usually a problem 🪷
