Description
We live in a beautiful area surrounded by mountains, white beaches, birds, hiking, waves, climbing and peaceful nature. We are a family of four: Ingrid, 37 from Norway, Rod, 37 from Wales and two boys aged 3 and 1. We bought an old small farm 30 min away from Svolvær in a little village called Laukvika.
Our village has a small shop, coffee roastary and a popular cafe (+incredible nature). We are slowly renovating the house and slowly making a garden where we grow vegetables and berries for ourselves. We both work parttime positions and stay home every other day whith our youngest son. We both work with NGOs focused on sustainability and outdoor activities.Types of help and learning opportunities

We would like to share with you a nice simple way of living. Time in the nature and growing some of our own food. Join to hang out on the beach, we both like surfing. We are planning to grow a lot of our food and it would be interesting to learn about agriculture, permaculture food production from different places. Also sharing recipies from different countries. And how people live in different parts of the world.
We go can go together to pick mushroom in the forest and pick berries when its season for it. You can learn about how to forage, preserve food. You can get know our beautiful surroundings on our bicycles.Projects involving children

Help
We have many possible projects but try to not start them all at one time:) At the moment we would like to have two friends or a couple but also an independent solo is nice. We are early off to bed and some days in work. But we work alongside during daytime it makes work more fun, social and we can learn from eachother. We also try to Rod is very handy and has got green hands and is very willing to share with you. We will if possible try to adapt the work to your interests, skills and of course the season.
The first job will be to clean and make the camper cosy and ready for the spring/summer so that you can stay there. You will stay the first nights in our house.
On good days we are working in the garden:
Planting
Weeding
Making compost systems
Cutting trees and make firewood
Mechanical/handy:
Rod knows a lot about mechanics but if you know a bit about engines we are working on the tractor which is old and lovely but needs some help.
We are doing the most of the carpentry ourselves. Plastering (if you know how to we are very keen to learn:)
Carpentry, we are renovating our bedrooms and planning to open up in the top floor. If you are a bit handy it helps but a lot of the work doesnt need any skills. We work a lot together.
Changing windows (together with us)
Sparkelling
Painting
Putting up the large greenhouse we have ready here. And adapting it with extra windows.
In the house
If you like to do a good spring cleaning

You will sleep in a charming camper placed facing the field where its possible to see moose. You wil sleep alone or with your friend/partner travelling together.
We are flexible when it comes to food, but dont cook a lot of meat for our selves. We get whats seasonal, homegrown and dont throw food. We will eat some dinners together and we can share cooking duty depending on your interests and skills. Beeing as we have two small children it might not be convinient to eat dinner together every day. The camper has a kitchen and a fridge. Most Norwegians (shockingly enough for many) only eat one warm meal during the day. The rest of the meals are bread with different spreads, porridge, cereals. These meals are on the go because of us going to work og nursery. We bake all our bread. If you are a good baker we would love to learn:)A little more information
