    Description

My name is Claire and I’d love for you to join our 3 generations of family living nestled at the foot of the Porcupine Foothills just a short distance from Kananaskis Country and the Rocky Mountains. With views straight to the mountains our area boasts a huge variety of nature that we love to partake in. Hiking, back country riding and more. We are only 2 hours from famous Banff Alberta. Slightly more to Waterton Park. Our location is steeped in cowboy culture and agricultural history. Calgary is only 45 minutes away with the Calgary Stampede and also Spruce Meadows for the truly horse oriented! We frequently visit all th§ese places and more. Our property has 12 horses currently and chickens and cats and dogs and a fair sized garden that we are working to upgrade this year. We are especially busy in the summer working on upgrades around the property and fencing and the garden and our apple trees, shelter belt, horse pens etc. It’s a beautiful place to get to work and so we make sure we take lots of time to play and appreciate it too. We are myself and my 2 children as well as my mom and dad. We’d love to have you join us.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Our area has a strong cowboy culture, a long Native American history, a large Hutterite population and amazing local events like local rodeos, historical sites, nature preserves and world renowned venues. We love visiting and sharing these and would really enjoy hearing more about your culture and home. The options are endless. We have live music and live theatre at the beautiful Coutts Centre. I can teach you everything you might want to know about horses. We also get involved in local renaissance festivals. We LOVE learning and cooking new foods and hearing new languages.

  • Help

    Help

I’m looking for someone to really join our family and participate in a bit of everything we do. This would include sometimes helping my mom and dad look after the kids. Working in the garden. Horse tasks. Light yard tasks. Etc. These are activities we do together. You’ll learn about horses, farm machinery, pasture care, animal husbandry and anything that interests you. I am not a business and you won’t be doing work related to a business. Likely looking for a female or a couple and it’s a bonus if you have prior horse experience as you might get more out of this opportunity, but open to anyone interested. I’m especially looking for help from May to end of September.

We have a clean, comfortable and private trailer available for accommodation. It allows you to have your own space and have any meals or foods you’d like to enjoy privately, while hopefully enjoying at least one or more meals a day together.

As I have two young children we enjoy going places and creating experiences for them and would like you to come too. A drivers license would be useful as we are rural and if you wanted to explore on your own a vehicle could be provided.
