Description
Hello dear travelers,
My name is Dilay and I live on a beautiful piece of land near Köyceğiz, in the southwest of Turkey. The land is surrounded by forests, mountains and wild nature. Life here is simple, peaceful and very connected to the rhythms of nature.
I work with children in nature and outdoor education. I organize small nature activities where children explore forests, rivers and mountains. My dream is slowly growing this place into a small nature learning space where people, children and the land can come together.
I live here with my children and our animals, and the place is always full of movement, stories and sometimes a little chaos in a beautiful way.
The land itself is quite big and a bit wild. We have fruit trees, blackberry bushes, forest areas and open spaces that always need care. We are slowly shaping the land into a healthy garden and natural living space.
Life here is not luxury – it is simple, natural and real. We cook together, share meals, work with the soil and enjoy the quiet of the mountains.
People who enjoy nature, simple living, creativity and a bit of physical work usually feel very happy here.
If you like forests, fresh air, meaningful conversations and working with the earth, you will probably feel at home.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Workawayers will get to experience how family life is in Turkey as we will be spending our time together. As a family we often have people over and we cook and eat with family and friends. You will experience traditional Turkish cooking and we love having mangal (Turkish Barbecue) nights with friends of all ages, which include dancing and music being played into the night.
There are also lots of historical and cultural sites, such as the ruins of Kaunos city, Kaunos Tombs, mud baths in Sultaniye and if you are lucky you might even be able to see the Turtles hatching on İztuzu beach near Dalyan! All of these places are within easy reach by local buses or boats. If you are a biker or like to cycle you may do day trips to all these sites. Not to mention countless number of coves to explore in the area.
I also have lots of interesting artistic and outdoorsy friends who i can introduce you to, they would be happy to show you around - Turkish hospitality is known to be one of the most welcoming so you will always feel surrounded by friends!

Help
At the moment the land needs some care and seasonal tasks in the garden.
Spring is coming and it is time to prune fruit trees and manage the wild blackberry bushes around the land. There is also general gardening and landscape work to help keep the place healthy and beautiful.
Some of the things we may work on together:
• Pruning fruit trees
• Cutting and clearing blackberry bushes
• Gardening and landscape work
• Helping organize natural areas of the land
• Occasional simple outdoor tasks
Most of the work is outdoors and physical, so it’s ideal for people who enjoy working with the earth, plants and fresh air.
We usually work around 4–5 hours a day and then there is plenty of free time to explore the area, rest, swim in nearby rivers or enjoy the forests and mountains.
No special skills are required — only willingness to help, respect for nature and a positive attitude.

Accommodation
You are welcome to stay on the land with your motorhome (caravan) or a tent. If you don’t have a tent, I can provide one. I can host two people at the same time.
I can also provide basic things such as a tent, sheets, pillows and sleeping mats if needed. You are welcome to use the kitchen and the bathroom in the house.
I usually provide food for cooking and sometimes I cook and we share meals together, which I really enjoy. You are also welcome to use the food that is available in the fridge and cook for yourself.
Life here is simple and close to nature. This is not a luxury place and sometimes the food options are simple depending on the season and our budget, but there is always something to cook and share.
We try to live in a natural and easygoing way, helping each other and enjoying the land together.
What else ...
My home is very peaceful, surrounded by nature and no neighbours. It is a 10 minute drive to the centre of Koycegiz, which is a lovely small town on Koycegiz lake - it is a really beautiful, magical place. There are bars, shops and restaurants… a great place to explore in your free time. I go into Koycegiz most days, so can drop you in town if you would like to explore.

Mehtap (9 years)
You know, there are talking cats, here is our beloved Mehtab. When you see her, you should greet her. And of course, if you're sitting down, Mehtap will come to your knees. And she has permission to enter and exit the house whenever she wants. We couldn't imagine anything else, anyway.
