Description
We are an Italian-American couple in our late 50's with a 15 year old daughter: Stella, extremely well behaved. We live between Milan and Lake Como a beautiful place in Northern Italy, near the Swiss border. Fabio was born in New York and after a Master's Degree in Natural Resources at Cornell University has worked for most of his life in Conservation, until when he became a publisher of International Volunteering Guides, he now manages a chain of Youth Hostels, the main one is right on Lake Como in an amazing location.
Silvia (myself) was born in Milan and after a career as a manager in Human Resources in Fashion Companies in Milano, she is now the President of a non Profit Organisation, dealing with children without families mostly in Romania, and in integrating immigrant children here in Italy, she dedicates almost all her time to the organisation. Definitely if they want they would have plenty of time to learn and practice Italian.
Help
Volunteer will interact in English and/or French with our daughter (she's alerady proficient) and with Silvia (my English needs to improve) for maximum 2 to 3 hours/day for 5 days a week (absolutely no baby sitting), mostly in the evening. The volunteer will be free for the whole day and will be responsible for interacting in English with Stella and myself for 2-3 hours at dinner time, and will be required to stay home for 1- 2 evenings a week (so that Silvia can go out). She will be free to find any job in Milan during the day, and will be free on the week-ends. The volunteer would be also be free to come to Lake Como on the week-ends to take a break from the City. We are looking for someone in her late teens or early 20's preferably English or French mother tongue (with absolutely perfect English) who is willing to improve or learn Italian. We need a minimum commitment of 3 months and a maximum of 5 months (until June) non European citizens can stay a maximum of 90 days).

Accommodation
Own Room both in Milano and Lake Como (the cats are not allowed in the room), with bathroom shared with Stella (daughter) and Oliver and Lily (the cats).
What else ...
It can be an excellent soft landing for who wants to try living in Italy. In the past other volunteers have found a job on their own in Milan and after the first few months with us have gone on living on their own. Room and Board will be provided and possibly a food allowance if the candidate has special food requirements. Sorry but we do not accept smokers in our house and the person must tolerate the cats, which will be sharing the same bathroom. We expect a volunteer who loves interacting joyfully particularly with a young girl, and who would be wiling to help a little bit in the house as a family member. We expect that she would keep her room clean and help, like we all do, to set or clear the table when we have lunch or dinner together. We don't expect the volunteer to do ANY work in the house. The volunteer will be welcome to spend time and have fun at the hostel in the summer or in week-ends or to help Silvia with her non profit organisation.
