    Description

We are an Italian-American couple in our late 60s living on beautiful Lake Como with our four cats.
Our home has a lovely garden. We are retired and travel often to Milan and abroad.
Your tasks: Feed the cats twice a day (only one cat uses litter, the other three use the garden). Litter needs occasionally to be cleaned and disposed of properly. In summer: water the plants and mow the small lawn (not in winter). Keep your apartment very clean. Handle small emergencies (e.g. power outage) with our help; we also have maintenance people.
    What we offer:
A fully equipped basement apartment with a porch, where you can stay even when we are home. Utilities are covered year-round. When we’re here, you can also take days off and travel—just plan with us. Work is light, about 2 hours per day maximum. You’ll have plenty of time to enjoy walks, sightseeing, and the stunning scenery of Lake Como.
Requirements: Mature person (30+), ideally a digital nomad (Wi-Fi is reliable). Proven experience with cats/pets and/or house sitting. Handy, responsible, and good at communication. Minimum stay: 1 month; maximum 3 months (longer possible for EU citizens). Non-EU citizens can stay max 90 days and must come from visa-free countries (US, Canada, Australia, UK, Japan, etc.), as we do not provide visa support, and must carry travel insurance. If interested, please apply with a short introduction about yourself. Applications not meeting these requirements will not be considered.
Workawayers will only be helping with house/pet sitting and they won't be helping with our rental accommodation business.
Lake Como is a spectacular place, home to many movie stars’ villas—this is a unique chance to enjoy it with an extremely light work commitment. Unfortunately we do not accept smokers.

It can be an excellent soft landing for who wants to try living in Italy. In the past other volunteers have found a job on their own on the lake and after the first few months with us have gone on living on their own. Sorry but we do not accept smokers in our house. We do not provide visa assistance nor we give residency to those seeking to become Italian citizens because of heritage.
