  • Description

    Description

We are a micro-farm based in Ballyneety, County Limerick Ireland. We are a chemical-free farm using the soil as a means to produce high quality vegetables. We adhere to strict guidelines which help to preserve and improve soil conditions so that we add more to the natural environment than we take away. We also have a social dimension to our farm, hopefully with your help, develop the farm to a position whereby we can educate and train people from socially and economically marginalised areas of Limerick City thereby empowering individuals, families and local communities. You will gain experience of how to grow vegetables, so that you can become self-sufficient in growing for yourself and/or your family. You will learn and gain experience of selling and marketing our produce so that one day you might set up your own homestead/ market garden. This is a very rare opportunity to gain a comprehensive experience from seed to plate. You will stay at a farm where everyone speaks English, is safe and fosters an open and accepting environment, free from prejudice of colour, creed, sexuality or gender. We welcome everyone with open arms. The work is physical and demanding but we endeavour to make it fun and involving as much as is possible.

We have many years experience travelling ourselves and understand what it is like to leave family and friends behind to travel to other countries. We will endeavour to ensure that your experience is appreciated and rewarding. You will be doing gardening, planting flowers, sowing seeds, some weeding and watering. We are doing a project this year which will be to build a lean-to shed for storing our garden tools.
