    Description

I live in a splendid countryhouse, in Sabina, just 40 km north of Rome and easily connected to Rome by train. The famous abbey of Farfa is at just three kms from the estate. The countryhouse is large, with three units completely independent, recently renovated and perfectly functioning. I live here alone, surrounded by pets (cats and dogs and alpacas), a large garden under construction, a orchard, an olive grove, and a forest surrounding the estate on two sides are part of the property. The site is merged in a pristine landscape, where I hike, go bathing in the summer in the fresh waters of the Farfa river (one km away from the estate) and there is silence, a wonderful starry sky by night, and a myriad of beautiful cultural and natural attractions all around in the region (from ancient villas to medieval hamlets to natural sites). What I love most about this place is that it's a miracle of beauty and peace just 40 minutes away from the buzzling city of Rome.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I am a historian, and I have here a large professional library, plus some thousands of books of psychology, physics and travels (three of my interests). I am happy to introduce to my guests the attractions of this region and of Rome, and serve them with their intellectual and cultural curiosity in whatever form they wish. I am open to know grown-up people and to learn from them and their countries.

    Help

I am happy to host grown-up people, ideally a couple or two couples, or a family with children would fit here perfectly, who would enjoy the estate and the peace and relaxation it offers. Hosts will have free access to the fridge, and meals together if they wish. I cannot guarantee for 3 meals together every day, but hosts will have access to food and beverage to prepare their meals if I cannot be with them. I am asking for some 3 hour/day work per adult hosted, weekends free, which would help me bring some tasks to completion, collaborating with me: building one raised bed of the orchard, do some little reparation tasks, tiding up the estate, and finally do some simple tasks in a room I am currently cleaning. All this is my personal project and has nothing to do with business. Some host could help me with the gardening as well (watering, weeding, cutting the grass).

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

There are three separate units; a large (90 sqm) apartment with two bedrooms, two large baths (one with sauna), a large living room with kitchen, fully furnished. It can host 4 people, two couples or a couple with two kids. Then there is another large unit (some 60sqm) which a sofa bed, a kitchen and a bathroom, fully furnished, which is cooler during summer and can accomodate a couple. Finally there is a small studio, fully furnished and independent (ca 20sqm), where I reside if the other units are occupied, or where a couple can reside if they prefer so and some place is free for me. The countryhouse is dated to the end of the XIX c., wooden beams , old terracotta paving everywhere. Fully renovated over the last three years. The estate surrounding the countryhouse is 5 hectares, of which one is garden.

Meals together are very welcome, but I cannot guarantee I will be always available to prepare them. Hosts will have access to the ingredients they may want to prepare for themselves.

I love all sorts of pets; I have two male dogs here with me that get along pretty well with other male dogs (female are no problem whatsoever), after a period of accommodation. There is plenty of cats, that may be somewhat territorial, but in general they welcome new entries.
