    Description

Hello! I’m Javier and I live in Laguna Verde, a peaceful rural area surrounded by nature, just 30 minutes from Valparaíso.

I live in a beautiful colonial heritage house that is more than 100 years old, full of history and character. The house is surrounded by a large garden, trees, mountains and nature.

I love animals and being outdoors, so there is always plenty of life around the house. We have dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, geese and fish.

I’m currently working on restoring and improving different areas of the property, creating new spaces while trying to preserve the original character and history of this old house.

At the same time, I’m developing Tierra Conecta, a space focused on nature, wellbeing, connection and consciousness, located nearby. From time to time, we also work on projects and activities there.

I live here on my own and I also work on other projects outside the property, so having some help with the everyday life of the house makes a big difference.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Staying with us is an opportunity to experience a simpler and more conscious way of living, closely connected to nature, animals and the rhythms of the countryside.

Depending on the season and the projects we are working on, you can learn and practice different skills such as organic gardening, preparing the soil, planting, pruning, harvesting, composting, collecting seeds, propagating native plants, sustainable landscaping, caring for animals and reforestation.

I’m also happy to share what I have learned over the years about meditation, yoga, conscious living, working with the land and creating spaces in harmony with nature. At the same time, I really enjoy learning from the people who come here — their culture, experiences, skills, food, music and different ways of seeing the world.

Laguna Verde is also a wonderful place to experience a quieter side of Chilean life while being close to Valparaíso. You will have the opportunity to practice Spanish, experience local culture, spend time in nature and discover the surrounding area.

More than just learning specific skills, I hope the experience offers you a chance to slow down, disconnect from the noise of everyday life, reconnect with nature and enjoy a more peaceful and present way of living.

  • Help

    Help

The help I’m looking for is mostly connected with the everyday life of the house and property. This can include cooking, helping to keep the house clean and organized, feeding and taking care of the animals, gardening and working in the vegetable garden.

Depending on the season and what we are working on, there may also be some outdoor projects, maintenance, painting, improving spaces or helping with projects at Tierra Conecta.

I’m looking for people who are independent, responsible and proactive, who enjoy living close to nature and don’t mind getting their hands dirty. Since I sometimes need to be away working, it’s important to me that volunteers are comfortable taking initiative with everyday tasks without needing constant supervision.

    Accommodation & food

Volunteers stay in comfortable and cozy cabins located just outside the main house, surrounded by the garden and nature. The cabins provide a peaceful and private space where you can rest and relax after the day’s activities.

The property also has a swimming pool that volunteers are welcome to enjoy during their free time, especially on warm and sunny days. There are plenty of outdoor spaces to relax, read, spend time in the garden or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

The food provided during your stay is vegetarian. We enjoy simple, homemade meals and, whenever possible, fresh and seasonal ingredients.

You’ll have your own space while still being part of the everyday life of the property.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

TThe property is surrounded by mountains, native vegetation and beautiful countryside, with plenty of trails and areas to explore on foot. It is a peaceful place with lots of space, perfect for spending time outdoors, relaxing and connecting with nature.

The beach is about 20 minutes away by bike, so during your free time you can explore the coast, swim, walk along the beach or simply enjoy the ocean and the surrounding landscape.

Another interesting place to explore is the old hydroelectric power station of Laguna Verde. The remains of this historic site are hidden among the hills and nature, and getting there involves a beautiful hike through the landscape. It is a great option for those who enjoy walking, exploring and discovering some of the local history.

At the property, you can also enjoy the swimming pool, gardens and outdoor spaces, find a quiet place to read or relax, or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and the animals around the house.

At the same time, we are only about 30 minutes from Valparaíso, so you can combine a quiet countryside experience with visits to one of Chile’s most interesting and colorful coastal cities.

This is a great place for people who enjoy nature, animals, hiking, the ocean and a slower pace of life, while still having plenty of opportunities to explore the surrounding area during their free time.
