Description
About me
Hi, I’m Daniela. I fell in love with the beautiful nature of San Luis, Antioquia, and decided to stay. I live in a peaceful place just outside the village, surrounded by forest, birds, and rivers, together with my cats.
I enjoy a creative lifestyle close to nature. Much of my time is spent making things by hand, experimenting in the kitchen, and working on small projects around my home. I work online as a language teacher, and recently I started learning to play the drums.
My current project
Right now I am building a small shed in my garden using natural building techniques. The structure is made with wood and bamboo, and the walls are built with clay (a traditional wattle-and-daub style technique).
This is a great opportunity for someone who is curious about natural building, bioconstruction, and working with natural materials.
Typical tasks may include:
* preparing and mixing clay
* build the walls
* simple woodworking tasks
* carrying natural materials (wood, clay, bamboo)
* general help around the project
No previous experience with clay building is required. I can show you the process. The most important thing is that you are motivated and enjoy working with your hands. Just be prepared to get dirty.
Who I’m looking for:
I can host one volunteer at a time, so I’m looking for someone who is:
* clean and respectful
* motivated and hardworking
* comfortable working outdoors
* interested in nature
Experience with woodworking or tools is a big plus.
Because I have cats, it is important that you do not have a cat allergy.
This project is best for someone who truly enjoys practical work and learning new skills. The work is physical but satisfying, and you will see the results of your effort every day. If you are motivated, curious, and happy to live simply close to nature, you will feel at home here.
About my place:
My house is located outside the town, surrounded by nature. The village is about 4 km away (around a 45-minute walk). In the town you can find tuk-tuks and motorbike taxis if you don’t want to walk.
Only 10 minutes from the house there is a beautiful natural swimming hole (“charco”), perfect for swimming and relaxing after work.
About San Luis
San Luis is a small town located about 3 hours from Medellín and 8 hours from Bogotá on the road connecting these two cities.
The town is at about 1000 meters above sea level, with a warm climate and an average temperature around 28 °C. The region is very green and rich in water. There are many waterfalls, rivers and natural swimming holes.
Nearby places to visit include:
Reserva Natural Cañón del Río Claro
Hacienda Nápoles
Río Samaná, known for rafting and kayaking.
In the town you will find small restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, and local markets.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Volunteers will have the opportunity to experience daily life in a small Colombian town and enjoy the natural beauty of the region. Living here offers a slower, nature-based lifestyle and a chance to connect with the local environment.
During the stay, you can learn about natural building techniques, working with clay and other local materials. I’m also happy to share knowledge about fermentation, homemade food, natural products, and simple sustainable living.
Since I work as a language teacher, there are also opportunities for language exchange and conversations about different cultures.
This experience is ideal for people who are curious about nature, sustainable lifestyles, creativity, and practical skills.
Help
I am currently building a small shed in my garden using natural building techniques with clay, bamboo, wood, and stone. I’m looking for one motivated volunteer who would enjoy helping with this hands-on project.
Typical help includes:
* preparing and mixing clay for the walls
* applying clay to the structure
* assisting with simple woodworking tasks
* carrying and preparing natural materials (wood, bamboo, stones)
* occasional help with small tasks around the property
The help is practical and sometimes physical, but it is also a great opportunity to learn about natural building and bioconstruction.
You don’t need previous experience with clay building, but it is important that you:
* enjoy practical work
* are comfortable working outdoors
* are willing to learn and contribute
Experience with woodworking or using tools is very welcome.
We will work together on the project, and I’m happy to share what I know about natural building and sustainable living.
I prefer volunteers who are motivated and reliable, because this is a small project where your help really makes a difference.
