    Description

Hi welcome to gabriola island--the Isle of Arts! My name is christine, my family owns a 10-acre hobby farm on Gabriola with crops of raspberries and blueberries. The land is tranquil and beautiful--It is half forested, half with the berry farm and a mainhouse facing the ocean.

The property is located right at the entrance of Gabriola's biggest park: 707 Acre park, with tons of amazing trails for hiking and biking. Plus the property is also 3-min drive to Ravenskill Orchards (which has freshly made ciders on site and hosts lots of cider tasting events), 5-min drive to Gabriola golf course; 8-min drive to Gabriola downtown core with Nesters, Pharmacy. 12-min drive to Gabriola ferry.

I am looking for someone to help with:

    1) primarily household chores: preparing for meals, cleaning the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and living room. And small cleaning and maintenance job around the main house.

    2) jobs around the berry farm: cleaning up the old stems of berries, dig out small new canes.

    3) Fun projects around the garden: like transplant baby lavenders, plant seeds for spring time...

    3) stacking wood.

Gabriola's community is diverse, and culturally rich, especially the culture of creating arts. Gabriola island can not only offer our workers with nature immersion, but also offer you passion for self-expression through arts:

Island festivals include the annual Isle of the Arts Festival in April, Cultivate Festival in July, and the Thanksgiving Studio Tour, all three events produced by the Gabriola Arts Council. The Shipyard School "Launch Festival" is held mid April in Silva Bay to celebrate the graduation of the students – this is a well-attended, two-day event high on the list for anyone interested in traditional wooden boats and their construction. The Concert on the Green and the Annual Salmon Barbecue occur in August. From May to October, the great Saturday Market at the Agricultural Hall features local produce and baked goods from the island, as well as crafts and high-quality artwork.Habonim Dror Camp Miriam, a Jewish summer camp, operates on the island from the end of June through the end of August.

Gabriola and surrounding islands have more than 70 known petroglyphs – sandstone carvings, some of which may be as old as 2,000 years or more. A small park at the Gabriola Museum contains reproductions of some of these petroglyphs.

I, myself, am a full time artist and art workshop facilitator. I am dedicated to create intuitive paintings and collages to connect with unconscious mind for more than a decade. I exhibit internationally. I look forward to sharing my passion and skills with my workaway friends about art and about how to connect to ourselves. I do look forward to that.
