    Description

A unique opportunity to experience the life of a hardworking African woman in a small village that relies on subsistence agriculture. The garden features a four-bedroom round hut available for rental, a permaculture garden, and a banana plantation. Guests can also immerse themselves in village life and gain a deeper understanding of the local culture and the Mandinka language.

As part of this cultural exchange, I appreciate a few hours of your time each day helping in the garden in exchange for simple accommodation. Activities would include gardening, watering, and maintenance. This experience allows you to learn about local customs, history, and language.

In addition to running the garden, I am a football coach, softball trainer, and the founder of a foundation and football academy. My football team now plays in the first division of The Gambia’s professional league.

The foundation focuses on supporting women, youth, and children, with key areas in community development, environmental advocacy, and the promotion of the SDGs. We are also dedicated to addressing issues such Gender base violence against women and children.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Accommodation will be provided in a basic hut with a king-size bed and toilet facilities. There is also an option to sleep in a tent outside the hut if you bring your own. If the accommodation at the garden is fully booked by paying guests, there is an alternative option to stay in the family compound, just a few hundred meters up the road in the village.

I’ve reduced the number of hours the volunteers can work each day, and they will be responsible for their own meals.

We will cook meals together in the garden, and I will teach you how to prepare traditional local dishes.
