Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Our village is small, but there are activities around the area. Lots of djembe drummers if you are interested. Arts and crafts artists. It's a place for a real local experience away from popular tourist areas. Gambia is a very small country, so many options for local trips on your free days- empty local beach, Snake Farm in neighbouring village. We are also close to the Senegalese boarder if you want to explore Casamance region. We love local food, if you are a foodie there are many small local markets to explore. If you love animals, we can introduce you to the local charities in the area.

Help
Workawayers will be asked to do tasks around the compound (painting, small construction tasks, gardening). If you are interested in jewellery making, you can join in natural materials preparation (wood, shells etc) and learn about traditional crafts. We would also love some help with our animals, like food preparation or beach walks. We will be joining you with most activities, we will also be happy in introducing you to local charities and activities . My husband is a great cook, so it's a spot for African foodies who wanna learn about local food and spices

Accommodation
We offer a room with a double bed a bathroom. In case of more Workawayers we can provide a tent with a mattress and bedding also. There is a big shared kitchen in the compound as well as an outside grill. We will be happy to provide a mix of African, European and Asian food. Many spices are growing around our compound, we also have some fruit trees. As fresh milk is available on the village we also make our own cheese!
We are eating quite simple, so if any volunteers have allergies or would like more fancy food catering to their preference, I would welcome participation in ingredients costs. We live in a rural village, so access to lots of fancier stuff is limited.
What else ...
Gambia is a small country, so you can easily explore in your free time. Local transport includes motorbikes that take you to the coastal road. From there with local buses gele gele or taxi you can reach tourist destinations. We are near Snake Farm and Gunjur mosque. You can easily get to fishing village Tanji. We own a car, so we can also make plans for excursions together. We are looking for ppl who love nature and animals
