Description
We are a family of 2 parents and 4 children who live in rural Ireland on our organic beef farm. We are passionate about sustainability and self sufficiency, opting to grow/raise a lot of our own food.
Ideally we would love someone to come stay who loves working with children, and being in nature. We home educate our children and really love teaching them new skills and giving them experience of different cultures and viewpoints.
Daily life would involve some fun homeschool activities/projects with me and the kids, and depending on interest there would be opportunities to spend time on the farm (though as this is a commercial farm we would not be looking for help there), or help us with some projects - we would really love to build a roundhouse from natural materials, erect another polytunnel, expand our food forest, dig a pond etc in the near future.
Our land has the sea as a border on one side, and we are very lucky to live in a beautiful coastal Gaeltacht (Irish speaking) area in Co. Waterford. There is a thriving coastal town 15 minutes drive away with a strong food culture, and many local pubs to immerse in Irish culture and music. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are immersed in Gaeltacht life and are native Irish speakers. There are plenty of things to do locally, with Irish language conversational groups, pubs with traditional Irish music, and many amenities in our closest town (15 minutes drive). We would love to include visitors in days out to the beach, trips to the local town, or any other activities/outings we may attend, in order to make our visitor feel like part of the family and to give as much cultural immersion as they wish. We attend a forest school every week and visitors would be welcome to attend with us if they are interested in forest school principles.
We love learning about different cultures and are always so happy for our kids to learn about different parts of the world. We love introducing them to food from around the world too, and would be so happy if visitors were willing to teach us a few of their favourite dishes to make! -
Help
Essentially we are looking for someone who will be a third pair of hands around the place, between helping out with the kids, and some outdoor work in the garden and on our homestead (we also have a commercial organic farm which you are more than welcome to come to see, but help is not required here at the moment). This help may look different day to day, and may include entertaining the kids or working on projects with them while we are present but engaged in other work, helping us with a bit of homesteading - fence maintenance, preparing new vegetable beds or new paddocks for animals, or helping out during days out (a great way to see some of the locality!), and whatever other offerings you feel you'd like to make - we love being introduced to new foods and are very open to allowing you to cook a family meal or two if this is something you'd enjoy. You will not be expected to care for children without us present, or to have responsibility for their care/safety - myself or my husband will be present all the time.

Accommodation
The sleeping area is a 12 foot yurt in our front garden with double bed. The bathroom and kitchen would be shared with our family of 2 adults and 4 kids.
You are welcome to contribute to meal preparation, eat with us as a family, or prepare your own meals when we are not using the kitchen, which ever you prefer -
What else ...
We are located in quite a rural area, but we have a local link bus service that stops 5 minutes drive from the house, and we often drive to our local town, Dungarvan (15 minutes away) to bring our kids to activities
