Participate in daily life in our Florida Forest Home

    About Us
We’re Joseph and Deborah. living in a large, old house surrounded by thousands of acres of lakes and protected wilderness near Gainesville Florida USA.

Joseph is a retired professional photographer and Deborah was a voice teacher at the University of Florida as well as in her private studio.
We’re well‑traveled, easygoing, and enjoy cultural exchange with people from all backgrounds.
Your English doesn’t need to be perfect — we’re patient and happy to help and accommodate you at your current language level.

We live in a large, old house, originally designed as a hunting and fishing lodge, which has served as a family residence for the past 30 years.
You’ll find the architecture interesting and comfortable with plenty of room and your own private space.

This ten-acre property is mostly wooded and features a small fish pond. The air is clean, with hardly any light or noise pollution and stellar views day and night.
If you enjoy peaceful country-living and enjoy wildlife, you’ll love it here.

Our area is also rich in cultural opportunities. We can help you arrange trips to several nearby museums and historical sites.

    THE HELP

No skill required, we just need more hands.

    Outdoor:
Living a bit on the wild side, our garden can often use some general weed-pulling, raking, and flower planting.

    Indoor:

We use a professional cleaning service in the house but we often get involved with projects like tidying, sorting and organizing in the house and workshop.

And of course help with meal preparation and cooking are especially appreciated!!!

Hours: 20 hours per week (averaging about four hours per day on weekdays). Weekends free.

We value curiosity and those who are highly organized, fit, adventurous, and open-minded.
