    Description

We are located on the east coast of Ireland, in County Wicklow which is called "the garden or Ireland". Our house is in a valley (Vale of Avoca), in the middle of a woodland area. The site is 2 acres in total and is constant work in progress: wood to gather, to cut, to tidy, weeding, planting, pruning, seeding, harvesting...
There are lots of ruins around the house which dates from early 1800's. We arrived here 17 years ago. We have completely renovated our house with original material and a cedar extension . We are managing the land organically, it is a mature land with a vegetable garden and flower beds. I am passionate about creating a garden, I am interesetd in permaculture, I am a qualified horticulturist and beekeeper .
We have 3 children, one is living away from home and the 2 others are students (one living at home and one coming home at the weekend). My husband works full time, mostly in Dublin city.
I was a forager for a local restaurant for many years, and now I am working full time as a Project Coordinator for French trainees in the hospitality industry in Ireland.
I am looking for help with house tasks, dog walking, cooking, gardening... depending on the season , the weather and your mood! You get a self contained accomodation with all comfort, ensuite studio with kitchenette.
We usually share meals in the evening and at the weekends. We are happy to bring you with us if we go somewhere nice or drop you at the closest station when possible, we alway find a way to keep things happy and balanced even if some days are very busy and others rather quiet.
The best is if you can work on your own, if you like nature, cooking and gardening. However there is plenty of chats and laughter when we spend time with our family and workaway!

you will learn about wood (managing wood for wood stoves), growing food, cooking and preserving fresh food, most of all you will learn about rural life in Ireland!. Ireland is a wonderful country (I can say this especially that I am French!!) and this region is beautiful, with hills and woodlands and the sea. We are not far from Dublin which makes it easy to go for day or week end trips.

We are looking for a single workaway who is able to do tasks independently - of course with guidance, and also with Clothilde and John some of the time, who is ok to spend time outdoors if it is raining (a bit), either with DIY skills or who is happy to do some cleaning / cooking/ preserving and all sorts of home tasks depending of what we are doing and the season. You also need to be comfortable with pets (dog and cats).
