Description
Hello! We are Elizabeth and Jos, a Dutch couple who have been living in the Pyrenees for over 20 years.
We built our wooden homes ourselves, nestled on ancient garden terraces below the small hilltop village of Arcusa. Our lifestyle is closely connected to nature: we have our own natural springs, solar panels for energy, and a thriving vegetable garden.
We share our land with many animals: two donkeys, sheep, chickens, a goose, several cats, and our loyal dog Thorak.
Elizabeth is an artist and sculptor working in wood and stone. She has two grown-up children: her daughter Mara lives in Aínsa, and her son Wart is currently traveling. Jos has a deep love for nature, music, and the garden, and he is especially passionate about cooking.
Every Friday morning, we host a yoga class on our property, creating a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere.
Because summers here can be very hot, we prefer to welcome visitors between September and Apr

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We live in a small, quiet village, yet we are surrounded by a vibrant and alternative community of young people in and around Aínsa, just a 20-minute drive away. We regularly connect through various shared activities, such as a picnic group, a women’s full-moon sauna circle, a Friday yoga class, and other social gatherings.
The area is ideal for nature lovers. We are located close to the Sierra de Guara Natural Park, offering beautiful walking and hiking opportunities right from the doorstep. The nearby canyons are spectacular and perfect for exploring, swimming, and adventure.
Help
We would greatly appreciate help with a variety of maintenance and land-care projects. These include building and repairing animal fences, painting wooden verandas, maintaining water reservoirs, and servicing garden machinery such as mowers and strimmers.
There is also ongoing work on the terraces: planting trees, pruning olive trees, clearing bushes, restoring old stone walls, and caring for the vegetable garden. Volunteers may also assist with the construction of a Tiny House.
Animal care is an important part of daily life here. This includes cleaning the donkey and sheep fields and walking the donkeys each day to different terraces for grazing.
We ask volunteers to contribute five hours of work per day, mainly in the mornings, leaving afternoons free to enjoy the surroundings.

Accommodation
We offer comfortable accommodation in a cozy yurt for up to two people. The yurt is equipped with a wood-burning stove for both heating and cooking and is located on a lower terrace, offering peace and privacy. The sanitary facilities are situated on the terrace above.
We provide a nourishing breakfast and a delicious warm lunch each day — Jos is a passionate and talented cook. In the evenings, we usually enjoy our own quiet time and kindly ask guests to take care of their own meals and plans.
For those traveling with a campervan or tent, we also have a spacious field at the top of the land, with access to water and electricity.
What else ...
Our place lies close to the sacred landscape of the Sierra de Guara, where deep canyons open into silence and vultures circle high above as ancient guardians of the sky. This powerful and untamed nature invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect.
The land offers endless possibilities for mindful walking, cycling, climbing, and canyoning — not as sport alone, but as a way to move in harmony with the rhythms of the earth and the wild spirit of the mountains.
