We are a community of potato lovers, situated in Wendland in he east of the Lüneburger Heide in Lower Saxony. The region is in the north of Germany from where you can easily go to Berlin, Hamburg, and Hannover (about two hours).
Our passion is cultivating potatoes from all over the world, cooking tasty dishes and publishing the best recipes in our internet blog.

You will get to know other people from all over the world.
You can improve your German and perhaps learn other languages, too.
You will get to know the normal life in small German village. In our direct neighbourhood, there is a museum for medieval life in Germany which is quite interesting.
You can taste the whole variety of potato dishes, and you are kindly invited to cook special dishes from your country.
The region where we are living is known for its artists, artisans and many open-minded people with alternative lifestyles. There are lots of cultural programs around, e.g. the "Kulturelle Landpartie" in May, where we also take part with an Open Air Concert.
The county "Lüchow-Dannenberg" is known for its beautiful nature, its social commitment and alternative energy production. You will like the welcome culture all around!
We are friends of the potato and are always looking for likeminded potato lovers from all over the world, who want to stay with us and get to know typical German country life. That means you can help us with any activity connected to our potato. You have the opportunity to get to know us, our rural life and our culture.
There are always different projects depending on the seasons. We always try to find a project for you that hits your interest and your abilities.
For example: We have an own potato field, where we cultivate different ancient sorts of potatoes and a herbal garden. If you like it, you can help with gardening and agriculture. Planting in spring, weed weed in summer, harvesting in autumn...
Lots of tasty dishes are made from potatoes, we love to be inspired by our volunteers, who often know the specialities of their native country. Cooking together is part of our community and we love to have a great meal made from potatoes together.
We work on a renaturing project of the village pond in cooperation with the local population, as a habitat of endangered species. It´ll be fun to listen to the frogs croaking after work is done...
We offer accommodation, three meals a day, drinks and a weekly German lesson.
As we accept three or four workawayer at a time, you´ll never be alone and you will spend your time with interesting people from all over the world. Besides, some of our volunteers decided to stay in Germany and have found a solid job with us. Others come to visit us from time to time…
We love to have some extra-helping hands here and you will be part of our family soon.
We have comfortable guestrooms for accomodation. Sometimes, you´ll have to share a room or appartement with the other workawayers. All rooms have a private bathroom.
We provide three meals a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Drinks like mineral water and fruit juice are also included.
If you want to learn or improve the German language during your stay, you can visit our language course, which mostly takes place once a week. The teacher is coming to the hotel. The language school is for free. Depending on your interest, you will work on social and ecological subjects.
Please consider that the language school is not always offered during holiday times.
Besides: You can practice your language skills with all of us during the whole day.
All of our workawayers have made a book together, where you can find lots of ideas of what you can do during your free time (cycling and hiking tours, bus trips, places to see). This book is to be completed by everyone who stays with us.
We offer bicycles to go to the next town (Lüchow, 4kms) or even further. There are always possibilities to organize a car ride to Lüchow, sometimes also to Dannenberg, Hitzacker or Lüneburg. All of these towns have picturesque medieval citycentres and are worth visiting. The river Elbe is also near, part of the former German-German border and worth visiting for all those who are interested in the history of Germany.
