    Description

Hellooooo to all. I own a 42 monohull sailing yacht and am looking for crew to help out. We sail where the wind takes us.

My current crew said my profile sounded angry so i decided to put this in to sound less angry but there was a reason for being very specific....imagine being on a boat with beautiful weather and scenery and you have 1 person on board that is completely wrecking it with their behaviour etc....a boat is a small place and you cant exactly get off anywhere....so its very specific and...well....sounds a bit angry ha :)..... here goes.

You must be adventurous....I mean actually adventurous and not just like the idea of being adventurous. You should also be very fit. This trip is NOT for you if you are clumsy, not spry, not practical, not able to get along with people, have to be told what to do and chased to do a single task. Non smokers and small drInkers/non drinkers only.

This is a trip for you if you eat simply, are adaptable, like people, are interesting for the camera and proactive and want to see things not in the magazines and believe me there are way better things out there than in the magazines. What we see is real and untouched. You must like snorkeling and Bush walking. Please have your own snorkeling gear.

Our diet is simple and healthy and consists of porridge, cabbage, grated beetroot, carrot, potatoes, pumpkins, hummus, lentils, rice, rice noodles, lots of fish meals and fish curries and did I mention fish. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO EAT FISH. WE CANNOT CARRY ENOUGH FOOD FOR VEGETARIANS. AND DID I MENTION SEAFOOD. WE EAT SEAFOOD.
I put this in because alot of vegans and non- fish eaters still apply and yes they still do...oh well I tried. Please please please read the previous list carefully. It never ceases to amaze when people come on board and are unaware of it. There are no shops on the sea!!! Also , we have very little fridge space. I personally don't eat dairy or wheat so the meals are skewed in that direction but you can bring your own snack food if you like bread, chocolate, chips, biscuits and extra fruit etc.

YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST 1 MONTH AVAILABLE PREFERABLY MORE AND BE FLEXIBLE WITH YOUR DATES. PLEASE DON'T APPLY WITH STRICT DATES WITH STRICT TIMES FOR ARRIVAL OR DEPARTURE. THE WEATHER IS NOT OBLIGING SOMETIMES AND YOU MAY NOT GET ON OR OFF AT THOSE TIMES. I WONT CHOOSE YOU IF YOU DO THIS . FLEXIBILITY IS THE KEY!!

PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR PREFERRED DATES AND APPROXIMATE LENGTH OF STAY IN YOUR FIRST CONTACT WITH ME. IF YOU DONT DO THIS I WILL NOT ANSWER BECAUSE USUALLY MY RECEPTION IS VERY POOR AND I DONT HAVE THE TIME TO GO BACK AND FORTH WITH MESSAGES ON THE WORST DOWNLOAD SPEED TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHEN YOU CAN COME. It is very frustrating!!!!

If you try to contact me please don't be worried if i don't reply for a week or so, I am probably out at sea and don't have reception.

I have a YouTube channel with 85,000 subscribers. If you have your own Instagram thing or vlog I am happy to promote you on my channel and you can keep posting yourself on what we are doing aswell but sometimes we are without internet for a month or so you better be able to schedule videos etc in advance.

If you want to see resorts and marinas and other nature damaging places then this is NOT your boat. Sometimes we have to use these places but in general I try to avoid them and see places that are untouched. I am filming the WHOLE adventure so if you aren't prepared to be filmed then don't apply. Preference is also given to crew that have longer times of stay. Of course if there are personality clashes then a shorter trip will result. This happens rarely because i am careful in searching for crew but sometimes it happens. That's about it.

If you can sail, video edit video using Adobe Premier Pro, play guitar, or have another useful skill or something interesting then state that. If you know you don’t get seasick then say so. Preference will be given to video editors.

Please quote the word "orange" at the start of your first message so I know you have read everything.

So a typical application would go a bit like this..,,

    Orange
My name is Jack Bughe/ Jane mitchell
    I am 28
I am available from Feb 18 to June 24.
I can fly and meet you in Panama.
I can sail and have raced boats for 4 years in etc
I can/cannot video edit on XYZ program (Please include this so I know)
I get seasick but only for the first 2 days and then I am good.
I have a medical condition but I have medication for 3 months so I am ok
I can edit video on Vegas only but will have a look at Premier Pro and have a go before I see you
I can juggle, spit fire, play the guitar, do handstands , climb 60 ft palm trees etc
I am a vegetarian but I do eat fish and eggs
    I can’t cook.
I am allergic to pineapple/crab etc
I have lived on a boat before for 3 years etc
I have seen your blog and I don’t like it. I can improve it by doing etc
    Have a nice day.

    End of application.

Yes I know it’s sounds very angry and specific but if you have watched my vlog then you may see that I am actually laid back and like to joke around but the safety of a boat is important and that comes from the crew so in the end I just want everyone to be safe and have a good time without any nasty surprises. Good luck. If you get accepted it WILL be one of the most amazing experiences of your life. Hey I am still doing it and am amazed all the time.

    Remember, sailing sets you free.

It will be a great adventure. You hopefully will learn a little about sailing. You will see beautiful places that few people see cos i tend to go to the more difficult places. You will see beautiful reefs, whales, dolphins, huge sharks and gorgeous islands. If you can sail that would be a plus but if you don't you must be practical and have a good positive attitude. You will have an awesome time.
