We like to think that the people who come to visit us can learn something about off-grid living and organic methods of farming/horticulture in a beautiful, relaxing setting in our little corner of Andalusía.
As a couple we took early retirement from education. Karen has a land-based/environment background Steve was Principal of a Secondary School. We live in a beautiful setting 3km above the town of Orgiva in the Alpujarras. We have just finished building our own house, with pool, and now need help with our 69 organic acres. We enjoy walking, listening to music, reading, watching films and box sets etc etc.
There are olive, almond, vines and various fruit trees to tend, brush to be cut, land to be cleared, wood to be sorted, fruit and vegetables to be grown and animals such as chickens, dogs and cats to be cared for. Sometimes we have an orphan lamb or two to be bottle fed. We are almost self-sufficient in vegetables, eggs and meat. There are various projects on the go and things to do around the house. We are completely off-grid but comfortable none-the-less.

Help around the house
We are Brits living in Spain. We have friends of different nationalities. Depending on when you come you can learn about organic gardening/farming, olives, animal care. There is always some project on the go.
You need to be fit, strong, willing and reliable. First 2 weeks of December - olive harvest. Between May and October, because of the heat we start early and continue in the late afternoon/evening. We can provide hats and strong gloves. You need suitable foot wear.
There is a double bedroom with Ensuite within the main house or a self contained unit downstairs. We share breakfast, mid-morning coffee/tea and toast and and main meal at lunchtime with you. You will need to cater for yourself in the evenings. We have good WiFi.
Orgiva is a good sized town with many bars, restaurants and a sports centre. It is 30 minutes from the coast and an hour to Granada. There are regular bus services in either direction. Granada has a train station also. Malaga is the main airport but there are some flights into Granada, for example British Airways from City Airport, London and Easyjet from London Gatwick and Manchester if you are coming from the UK and other airlines from around europe. There is a ski resort in the Sierra Nevada mountains just above Granada. There are many beautiful walks. Our aim is to restore our land to its former glory. If you have a farming or horticultural background we may be of particular interest to you.
