Description
Hello everyone! We are Linda and Davide.
In our travels, we have given our time, energy & skills to eco-projects around the world through Workaway - and now we are looking for wonderful people who would like to share their experience, knowledge & memories with us surrounded by nature.
How does hiking everyday in a place only a 1.5 hour drive from the seaside sound?
We manage a Refuge at 1460m above sea level, situated in the Antola Natural Regional Park, in the inland of the Ligurian riviera, between Genova and Rapallo.
The Park caters around 270km of hiking trails and our place is located near the most prominent peak, Monte Antola; and on a clear day, views span from the Mediterranean Sea to the peaks of the Northwestern Alps.
Due to its proximity to the coast, the area features a large biodiversity. The park consists of various & differing environments.
The vast number of microclimates allow for a huge variety of plants and wild life; such as wolves, foxes, wild boars, deers, butterflies, eagles and other wild birds.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
Since our hut is located in an extremely remote area, it’s accessible only by walking through various hiking trails or by us (who have a permit to drive here as shelter keepers) by driving through a narrow dirt road.
Closest village and shops are roughly 2 hours walking or by a 1 hour drive.
We are an off-grid reality, which is amazing in itself, but can also mean we may at times run out of water and electricity, so please keep this in mind.
We are also in the process of preparing the land and improving the Refuge to eventually enable a fully self-sufficient system for all our food.
On some Tuesdays, we will be driving into town to buy supplies etc., so we can arrange for a lift up or down if you want to visit Genova & it’s surroundings.
To understand how to reach the starting point of the hiking trail via public transport, please write to us.
We are looking for proactive, energetic, flexible, collaborative, open-minded people, willing to stay with us for at least one week.
Love for nature is a must - skills in gardening, cooking, manual work and web design would be a plus.
