    Description

We are 2 adults Justine 60 and Johnnie 57 years old. And there is Billie a lovely 3 year old dog who needs lots of play and a daily walk! Our 23 and 26 year old sons live away from home but the youngest - Zeph - is currently home for a while (as of March 2026) from his world travels till he heads off again when ready

Other friends come and stay from time to time but sometimes we like company and need help with gardening, housework, and keeping things tidy.

We have lived in Darwin since 1997 and are involved in social justice and community work. We are fish eating vegequarians and try to live as sustainably as we can. If you need to cook and eat land meat at our place then we are not the house for you. Fish and seafood and vegies are fine.

We have lots of projects to do in the garden and house. The environment here is hot and garden work can be physical so you need to be fit and able. We expect 2-4 hours a day depending on the tasks. We can provide food but like to share cooking and cleaning with everyone - exchanging recipes is a great love of ours.

We love music, food and people! If you are a community artist, musician, theatre person and interested in social justice and activism, we are especially interested in sharing with you our passions.
    .
We host people for a maximum of 2 weeks - please check the calendar to see availability .

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

    1. An outside 'studio' - a large room which is very open but private in the garden. There is a composting toilet, an outside (cold) shower and a sink, and it is close to the pool. (March 2026 currently not available)

    2. We also have a small caravan as an option. - this is cosy and not fancy so please note if you need luxury our place is not for you.)

Note the weather in Darwin is warm all year round so sleeping out is lovely.

Our house is small but has everything we need.

    3. We also have a spare room in the house if the outside accommodation is unsuitable and if it is available and not being used by family or friends visiting.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Darwin is an interesting town with lots of beautiful places nearby. We live in the northern suburbs near Rapid Creek. We are all pretty busy ( music, sport, yoga, circus, acting, social justice work ) but try to cook and eat meals together. We have often had people staying with us, we have all travelled and would love to welcome other like minded people into our house.
