Description
Hello, I'm Maggie, me and my partner Yaksa is running a lakeside place. We have employed one locally paid staff who doing the daily general maintenance and housekeeping work, we both work together as well. Our place is a peaceful lakeside farm located in the countryside of Melaka, Malaysia. Surrounded by nature, fruit trees and open land, it is a place where people come to slow down, reconnect with nature and enjoy a simple lifestyle away from the city.
The farm has a small retreat space with around 14 rooms, long house and a campsite. We host small retreats, family stays, and occasionally children’s camps and nature activities.
What we love most about this place is the calm atmosphere. In the morning you wake up to birds and fresh air, and in the evening you can watch beautiful sunsets by the lake. Nights here are quiet and peaceful, with stars and shooting stars if you're lucky!
We welcome volunteers who enjoy being outdoors and are happy to help with daily tasks. Let us know if you have any extra skills or hobbies, any possibilities will do, and let's see how we can make it work together! Volunteers are expected to work 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, in exchange of accommodation and food.
Food can be taking turns prepared as a shared meal, or sometimes we will prepare the ingredients, feel free to enjoy your cooking time. Sometimes we will take you to our favorite breakfast place or restaurant at nearby, or if we are going to the melaka town, you can explore the tourist spot.
What to expect for cultural exchange with us? My partner Yaksa has 20years experience running guesthouse, pizzeria, cafes, farm stay, campsite. For myself, I enjoy quality conversation, under the stars especially. We can share our experience on running our business, travel stories or diy skills, and we hope we can learn from you whatever skills you have. We believe in faith, let's see who will the universe bring to us!

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Volunteers can learn about simple farm living, gardening, maintaining a small retreat space, and how we host guests in a peaceful countryside environment.
At the same time, we hope Workawayers can bring their own skills and ideas to enhance the farm. Whether it is gardening, DIY, cooking, art, music, photography, or other creative skills, we welcome people who enjoy sharing what they know.
This is a place for people who enjoy nature, meaningful contribution, and cultural exchange. We believe everyone can learn from each other!
Help
We welcome volunteers who enjoy nature and don’t mind getting their hands a little dirty.
Some of the things you may help with include:
• Gardening and simple farm maintenance
• Watering plants and basic landscaping
• Light cleaning of shared spaces
• Preparing rooms when guests arrive
• Helping to host guests and welcoming them to the farm
• Assisting during small events or camps (sometimes)
• Simple DIY projects or organizing spaces
Some days are quiet and relaxed, while other days may be more active when guests are staying at the farm.

Accommodation
Workawayers will stay in our longhouse, a semi-open wooden structure that is simple and close to nature. Bedding will be provided, and the space is designed for a relaxed, communal farm experience.
The longhouse faces the open landscape, so you can enjoy a beautiful sunrise view right in front of you in the morning. It is a simple setup without windows, allowing you to feel the breeze, hear the birds, and be fully surrounded by nature.
Shared meals, share our cultural food. Or when isn't possible, we will prepare the ingredients, you can enjoy your cooking time.
This accommodation is best suited for people who are comfortable with simple living and an open-air environment.
What else ...
The place is located in a quiet countryside area, so it is a great place to slow down and enjoy nature during your free time. You can walk around the farm, relax by the lake, read a book, watch the sunrise, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
The farm is in a rural area, so it can be a little difficult to explore further without transportation. The nearest town is about a short drive away. Occasionally we may be able to give a ride when going to town, or volunteers may arrange e-hailing or share transport with others if needed.
Because this is a countryside farm, you should also be comfortable with insects, outdoor weather, and simple living conditions.
We appreciate volunteers who are proactive and enjoy contributing to the place. If you contact us, please tell us a little about yourself and how you think your skills or interests could help enhance the farm.
