    Description

We live in a small town called Winton, in the South island of New Zealand. We are lucky to have a beautiful river next to us, mountain views, skiing only 1.5hrs away and some of the best hiking tracks in NZ also within that distance. The people are friendly and helpful too!

Living in a rural community, there is plenty of farming experience to have. My husband and I are not from a farming background but we both love the lifestyle here and have a few pet farm animals of our own now.
I work as a veterinarian at the local vet clinic, which is a large business. There are plenty of vets and technicians who regularly get together for social events plus there are many social sporting teams around. It’s a great place to be able to connect with other people and learn about rural New Zealand.

My husband and I are both not from NZ originally, so we understand what it’s like being in a new country. We also enjoy meeting people from other parts of the world and I work with many vets who are not from NZ and have made some great friends there.

My husband and I both work and we have 2 boys aged 8 & 10, both attending a local school. My parents live in a modern house on our land and help us with regular childcare. We are looking for someone (or a couple), to stay in their house for 6 weeks while they are away on holiday and who can help with childcare for us. This would mainly involve school drop offs and pick ups during school weeks. There are 2 weeks of school holidays that we would need childcare during the day also. The weekends are yours to explore the beautiful countryside!

    Accommodation

My parents house (where you will be sleeping), has a guest stay area with two bedrooms, bathroom and a toilet. The kitchen, dining and living room are open plan. There is also a garage with entry into the house. Our house is on the same land, with a connecting driveway to my parents house. They have a big, black cat who can be shy but will become your best friend within a few days! He will need food and love, that’s all.

We are happy to do a weekly supermarket shop for you to get whatever supplies you may need. You may choose to eat with us or on your own if you prefer to cook your own meals. If you are able to cook a family meal once a week that would be great.

    What else ...

We need someone with a good level of maturity and patience to help us with our childcare needs. We also need someone who enjoys animals and is not afraid to stay on their own in my parents house.
You are very welcome to take our spare vehicle on weekends to explore and would encourage you to do this, so you can experience the beautiful surroundings we have!
