I had an amazing time staying here helping Parissa and Steve. They are both incredibly kind and welcoming, and make sure you have everything you need. Parissa is also a fantastic cook and often provided us with amazing homemade meals!

I didn't have much experience in any of these before, but Steve is a great teacher, along with other Workawayers sharing their knowledge. Outside I helped with gardening projects like building a shed, planting ferns around the place, and chainsaw work.
Thank you for having me Steve & Parissa, I can't wait to visit again!
Originally, we planned to spend 10 days with Steve and Parissa, however, we ended up staying for over 3 weeks (which says a lot).

I highly recommend this experience.

We had, straight up, just the best time in our stay with Parissa and Steve. We stayed for one month in March and April and returned after a couple of weeks for some days. But the best about this stay has to be the people you meet. Parissa and Steve are honest, kind and take your needs and wishes very seriously. We have everlasting memories of great meals together and conversations that had us learn more about the world, cultures, and animals of Canada and beyond—speaking of beyond. It's difficult to write something new, most of the things have already been mentioned in previous feedback. We completely agree with all the positive feedback.

- we had the opportunity to take care of two well-behaved goats and some chickens :)
Saving the best for last, we met amazing and kind people like Steve and Parissa. We miss you and thank you for everything.

Best place ever! We arrived here a week after we arrived in Canada and instead of the initially planned 2-3 weeks ended up staying here for more than 2 months. As many here have already mentioned, Steve and Parissa are truly wonderful people. Not a day went by without a great story from Steve (feels like he's lived 5 lifetimes already), and it was

Another thing that we weren't expecting was all the amazing friendships we made while living here. There were always other travellers staying here, we had game nights, made puzzles, shared meals from our countries and had the loveliest Christmas together. … read more stuff.
There's so many thing that I had the precious chance to try and learn during this Workaway experience. In my career as a general worker to electric maintenance specialist I never happened to face alien activities like home renovation.
I invested the first week of my stay fulfilling the task of tiding up and organising all the tools in the small house basement. I made it, I said when I finished. The second two weeks were spent outside cleaning up some portions of land around the big house. If you can now see the facade from the road is because we made it. If you can now walk over the little stone bridge is because we made it! The rest of the stay has been focused on the renovation of the small house or, better said, completion. We leveled the floors and laid the new vinyl planks. We cut, installed, caulked and painted trims and baseboards. It's been an endless job, really mind and physically demanding, sometimes exhausting, but at the end the difference sure looked astonishing and, most importantly, me and the other French Workawayer could say "we made it". "I made it" is the most satisfying thing you could surprise yourself saying after not only completing a job but also reckoning that you actually learned something new. Something precious that you will carry for the rest of your life, and I'm not just talking about the job.
What's precious about experiences like this is the combination of moments, instants, conversations, the exchange of knowledge and the sharing of personal experiences. Workaway marks your life forever, in the best of the ways, and I really can't be more grateful to Steve and Parissa for the amazing time I spent with them. For all the new skills I acquired, for all the new things I tried and the beautiful human interactions. You can really find some extremely great human beings around here, on Workaway. I have to admit that the results of my stay went way over the expectations. I honestly felt important and appreciated, orders of magnitude more than I ever felt between family or friends.
Workaway not only groups great people but also helps shaping new ones at the same time. 😉
Thank you very much Steve and Parissa, I will never forget.

If I would tell you to imagine a man who walked a bear, tumbled around with a car and has a black belt in martial arts, names as Arnold Schwarzenegger or Silvester stallone would probably slip through your mind. After our stay in Whonnock we would say the name Steve baker. Well, let’s say he is somewhere between an endlessly brave and robust
… read more stallone and a charming Clooney thrown in the clothes of a sandler to put it completely right.
After we stayed with him and his wife Parissa, we gradually could fill in why his last name is in fact baker. This man bakes the most patiently, perfectly balanced out and tremendously mouth watering stories. I think we hardly ever met someone quite as interesting as Steve. We can’t even begin with telling how much we’ve learned from him.
Parissa is his beloved Persian kitchen princess. What she did is simply put in words: Given our experience more taste.
Who is she?
This lady is cleaner then a lysol itself. She is more flawless than any elegant letter from her Persian alphabet could ever be.
she sometimes says she feels weaker because she struggles with her immune system but don’t let that fool you, man can she step on that gas paddle. She’s just everywhere at everytime. Sometimes to the point where you think, you know, your on Workaway trying to help out other people but then she pulls out the uno reverse card on you and she just cared and helped us so much (do you still know that card Parissa?:))
So that was really so special to us and we will never forget both your two kindheartedness. Our only wish is that we can ever reinvest that amount of caring and help you out again one more time.
As last we like to say we felt bitten. Not to be confused with the numerous mosquito bites we have gotten there but sort of as big as a plague like it: Because the feeling of really wanting to come back has taken over us. But I tell you something, a mosquito bite is not nearly as itchy as that feeling is.

Nils is a very polite, hard working and respectful young man. He would accept any task without hesitation and always follow through to completion. Nils was also a very quick study when given tasks he was not familiar with including operating machinery. It was a pleasure hosting him and we love to have him back.

Wow I can't believe I've been this slow on giving feedback!!! I had the most incredible experience with Steve and his family. This was really an experience that changed everything- from what I learnt through the work, to the people that I met I couldn't be more grateful for all the time I spent here. I always felt incredibly welcomed and it really

Steve gives space for you to take and complete tasks in your own way and always a chance to develop and expand your skill set. He has an amazing talent of seeing what people need and trying to provide this so all the people involved are not just working for him, but really developing, learning and growing. I look forward to coming back again - everyone always returns...

One of the most positive workaways you will ever meet. You know as a host that this is very important for dynamics both within your personal family and within other volunteers that you have. She had a great attitude to help out with anything that was needed; she groomed and exercised the horses, helped out in the stable, cleaned, helped to take

Shes extremely hardworking and committed to finishing every project she started. She is worth offering a paid job to instead of just volunteer work. She also worked on our horse that was very buddy shy and wouldn’t leave the barn without his friends, she was the first one able to ride him away. Shes also extremely modest with a funny brit humour!

Amazing experience.
I loved the place and the people there. I learned a lot of things, now I have some news skills.
I will probably come back for working again and just to say "hi" to my new friends.
Thank you very much for all.

Paul is the kind of Workaway we could imagine every host would love!
He doesn't watch the clock and is very self-motivated. He mucks in, sees what needs doing… and does it! During his time with us, he helped teach our friends daughter French, looked after the birds and other animals, gardened, cleaned, fixed things… the list could go on.

This place is great! I was lucky enough to meet most of the extended family & they were super welcoming....the Canadian food was smashing - with the bbq salmon a highlight-wowzers :) It’s a beautiful spot immersed in nature. Picked up some skills along the way and appreciative of your time and patience in the process! Thanks for everything....I

Anna ( as my mother in law calls her ) is so kind, hardworking, thoughtful, intelligent and truly a one-of-a-kind individual. She was the first that we had this kind of exchange with and what a great first experience for our family. We appreciated all the hard work and intention she brought and the energy was infectious. Steve and all his family were so nice and fun. I loved Cooking for them even if it wasn’t for so long. Unfortunately I had to leave very soon. I would love to come back if I have the chance. Thank you for everything.
