Description
Hi there! My name is Jan and I’m from Bratislava, Slovakia.
I work part-time as a software analyst, helping out a company I’ve worked with for a while, and I’m also working on a few projects and products of my own. This gives me quite a bit of flexibility and the chance to spend longer periods in different places.
Since a lot of my work still involves sitting behind a computer, I really enjoy using the rest of my time for something more active. I like being outdoors, moving around, helping with hands-on tasks, and simply doing something different from desk work.
I’m easy-going, curious, and open to learning new things. I also enjoy meeting people from different places, experiencing different ways of life, and being part of something practical and meaningful.
Looking forward to being part of your project, helping out, and sharing some good moments together!

More details about your skills
I grew up in a family where we often did things ourselves, so I have some practical experience and basic skills in gardening, taking care of animals, chopping wood, concreting, DIY home projects, and general maintenance.
One of the things I enjoy in my free time is taking care of a piece of land outside the city that has been in my family for generations. It’s quite off-grid, and over the last few years I’ve been slowly trying to bring it back to life. Restoring old fruit trees, planting new trees and berry bushes, and generally making the place more diverse and wildlife-friendly.
More recently, I’ve also started growing some vegetables myself, such as tomatoes, onions, cucumbers and zucchini. I’m still learning, but I genuinely enjoy taking care of them and seeing how things develop through the season.
During my Working Holiday in Canada, I also had the chance to try several different types of work. I worked as a helper on siding installation and on sports flooring projects in gyms and sports halls. In both cases, I was mainly assisting more experienced workers, so I wouldn’t call myself a professional in either trade, but I gained useful hands-on experience with the work, tools, and materials involved.
I also worked as a houseman in a hotel, where I mainly supported the housekeeping team, handled supplies, did laundry-related tasks, cleaned common areas, and helped wherever needed. From time to time, I also covered some regular housekeeping duties when necessary.
Overall, I’m comfortable with practical, hands-on work. I:
- am confident using power tools, chainsaws, strimmers, mowers, and similar equipment
- have some experience operating tractors, a backhoe loader, and larger ride-on mowers
- can drive and have an international driving licence (categories A and B)
- am not afraid to get my hands dirty and am always happy to learn new practical skills -

What else ...
Since I still do some part-time work as a software analyst and also spend some time working on my own projects, having a stable internet connection is quite important for me.
I don’t need anything super fast or heavy-duty, and I don’t use huge amounts of data, but ideally the connection should be reliable and without very strict data limits. -
