    Description

Hi there, my family and I are living in the beautiful mountains and wilderness of the Kootenays in British Columbia. We are avid gardeners and my partner Andrew is a builder. We have lots of practical projects to be done on the garden and the property. If you are looking to gain experience in building, gardening, and taking care of a little one, we are the place for you :). My child is 5 years old and he is a lively loving little human. Also, I (Roxane) speak french and english. Léo my son understand french superbly, but speaks mostly english. If you speak french that is a plus and if you are looking to learn french that is a plus too!
Also, while you are staying in you can enjoy what nature have to offer: lakes, alpines, rivers, and so much more :)

This place is a paradise for nature and outdoor lover. There is whitewater/flatwater kayaking/canoeing as we have the beautiful Slocan lake and Slocan river at our doorsteps. Also, you can plan a multiday or day trip hike in the alpine. If you are a rock climber there is a crag by Slocan lake, 15 minutes away from our house by car. There is even more climbing in Nelson and Castlegar.
Also, we have a non motorized trail by the river that goes all the way from Slocan to Nelson. You can leisurely go for a bike ride or a walk. Also, you can go to many beaches around with translucide turquoise water.

There is so many options to relax and play in nature. We will be more than happy to assist you with that. We have many book guides to help you as well.

Finally, there is three hot springs around here that you can visit in less than two hours drive.

PS: We do live 40 minutes away by car from Nelson. It is an historical town that have many things to offer: boutique, restaurants, museum, outdoor activities, and more.

Taking care of garden of an area of about 2000 square feet. Depending on when you are joining us the tasks will be seedling, transplanting, weeding, fertilizing organically, harvesting, processing the food such as canning, drying, smoking, freezing and towards the end closing the garden and getting it ready for next year such as pruning, putting manure and digging.
We are also building a tiny house and a cabin where you can learn about framing, insulation, ventilation, plumbing, etc.

Taking care of Léo is mainly playing outside, crafting, and dropping him at daycare.

Also, we would like you to be involved in cooking. It can be a rotation and we can also do it together!

Of course, we are expecting that you clean after yourself and share the household domestic task with us.

We appreciate clear communication and authenticity and you can expect that from us too.

    What else ...

    A little about us,
Andrew and I are nature lovers and we like hiking, climbing and canoeing. We enjoy cooking and eating good food. We can be gourmet but also practical about it when we have to. We like socializing, but also love me time. We try as best as we can to live upon our value such as respect, authenticity, compassion, courage. What else, Andrew is a bushcraft instructor and we both did previous guiding in outdoor tourism. If you have any questions please reach out :)

Also we make our own beer and bread if you would like to learn that :D
