A charming stone house sits nestled among large trees and lush greenery, bathed in sunlight, with shadows stretching across the peaceful, slightly overgrown garden lawn.
A cozy corner features a patterned armchair, small wooden side table with magazines, round pouf, leafy plant on a stand, rustic beams, and a wall mirror.
A couple wearing winter coats, scarves, and beanies stand close together, smiling by a calm lake on a cloudy day, surrounded by brown reeds and trees.
A happy couple, warmly dressed in jackets and hats, smiles together outdoors in a forested area, surrounded by tall green trees under an overcast sky.
A ginger and white cat lounges comfortably on large hay bales in a sunny, rural setting, with green trees and a wooden fence in the background.

    Description

    Hello from Us!

We’re a creative, adventurous, nature-loving couple with British and Polish roots who spent several years travelling the world as Workaway volunteers before settling in France. Along the way, we helped with alternative eduction, permaculture projects, eco builds, DIY renovations, organic gardening and community living, learning from inspiring people and places while shaping our own vision of meaningful, sustainable living.

Before settling here, we converted a Mercedes-Benz van into our home on wheels and spent time travelling through Europe — exploring, slowing down, and searching for the place where we wanted to plant roots. When we finally found this corner of Dordogne (Périgord Vert), we knew it was home.

Now we’re on the other side of the journey — excited to welcome Workawayers into our world and co-create something beautiful together.

    About Us

Matt previously worked in education before choosing countryside life, and Bea has a background in psychology and continues working online. We love travel, yoga, hiking, water sports, wellbeing, sustainability, deep conversations, world problems and creative solutions, and living life as fully and consciously as possible.

We value kindness, curiosity, humour, shared meals, meaningful connection and hands-on living.

    About Our Place

We live in the heart of Périgord Vert, near Genis, Excideuil and Hautefort, surrounded by rolling hills, forests, meadows, cows, sheep, deer and abundant wildlife. A little stream flows through our garden, with a pond and orchard adding to the peaceful atmosphere, and the Auvezère River is just a 20-minute walk down the valley.

Our large, wild and diverse garden feels more like a jungle (full of mature trees), flowering plants and hidden corners, and offers a magical environment for nature lovers.

    Our Vision & Project

We are creating an eco-wellbeing space focused on sustainability, creativity and conscious living.

    Our main projects include:
    - Organic gardening & permaculture: orchard care, vegetable garden (potager), composting and regenerative growing.
    - Yoga & wellbeing spaces — creating an area for relaxing, yoga, meditation
    - General creative projects — light painting, garden structures and creative improvements around the house and land.

This is an evolving, hands-on, inspiring project, perfect for people who enjoy variety, learning new skills and contributing to something meaningful. The help requested is only for my private home and garden, and not for any commercial or guest-related spaces.

Like meaningful conversations and shared experiences
Want hands-on learning and real cultural exchange

If you’re looking for a place where nature, creativity, connection and purpose come together — we’d love to welcome you

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Beata and I are both practicing Yoga, have lots of general skills but still have so much to learn. We can support with learning English and Polish.

We love learning from you as much as we enjoy sharing our world. We enjoy meaningful conversations about life, health and wellbeing, sustainability, global challenges and creative solutions, alongside travel stories, yoga, hiking, football, water sports and conscious living...

    Expect:
    - Real conversations, shared stories and experiences — around the table, by the fire, on hikes and river walks.
    - Cultural exchange through food, skills and daily life — with plenty of laughter and deep chats.
    - Relaxed movie nights on our projector and peaceful evenings under the stars.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have two private guest rooms for Workawayers and a newly refurbished large bathroom. Both rooms have roof windows overlooking the countryside, with distant views of Hautefort Chateau.

This is a place for slowing down, reconnecting with nature, creating beauty and enjoying simple, meaningful living.

We are vegetarian and cook from scratch, using as much organic, home-grown produce as possible. Our food is healthy, colourful and nourishing — though since moving to France, we’re happily obsessed with cheese and wine too.

Beata is a great cook. We normally cook together; shared cooking when you’d like — or relax while we prepare meal. Healthy meals are an important part of our cultural exchange and daily rhythm.
