Description
Hi from Fred and Amanda. We are a retired Australian couple (73 & 66) who live in rural SW France and need some help during Spring with gardening and small maintenance chores around the property. We have a fully self contained (all linen included) and furnished 1 bedroom Gite which has its own entrance, is private and very quiet. Please note, meals are NOT included but the kitchen is very well equipped for self catering. We would expect a few hours/day over 4 days a week. Previous experience with mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers, handyman chores is a must. Part of the work will be getting rid of a lot of junk from the barn (we have access to a trailer). We're 10 mins from Marciac in Dept 32, the Gers, famous for its produce, Madiran wines and Armagnac. Perfect for day trips, an easy drive to Bordeaux, Toulouse, Biarritz, Albi and Spain. Very flexible with the length of stay from Mid March 2027. Car essential.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Marciac hosts one of the largest Jazz festivals in Europe so is very musically orientated. We speak English most of the time but you can improve your French with our neighbours. Many years ago in Brisbane (Australia) we used to host young homestay University students for 9 months at a time, at our house from China, Japan or South Korea.
Our kids were still quite young but we all thoroughly enjoyed the experiences. One or two still keep in contact on FaceBook.
We hope to be able to share our life experiences and showcase our property. In turn we can teach gardening techniques, maintenance of equipment and plant identification/suitability. Apart from your work input it offers us a chance to learn and gain a perspective about other countries and culture for possible visits. -
Help
You'll need to have some prior gardening/DIY experience and get on with things unsupervised. Couples welcome. Sometimes we'll be sharing tasks, other times not. We're very easy going and flexible with the projects and hours of work. Barn junk clean out, repaving, work around our pond, small tree trimming, digging out brambles in the field, mowing, weeding hedge trimming and strimming.
