    Description

Hi! We are Brad and Lina, with Mali (*2019) and Yuna (*2022), our friendly dog Ella and chookies Hilda and Vava. We live in Devonport, on the North West Coast of Tasmania, one of the most beautiful places on earth 😅 With the most amazing beaches right here and the mountains not far away it's a paradise for nature lovers. We enjoy everything outdoors, spend a lot of our free time at the beach in summer,go bush walking or camping. Lina is into gardening and we grow some of our fruit and vegetables in ourback yard.
We would like to host single travellers, couples, or a couple of friends who feel comfortable sharing a double bed, and there is additional room for two small children. Usually we would prefer short-term stays.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are a German-Australian family. Even though we may be busy with work/study/school a lot of the time, we like to connect with Workawayers in the morning/afternoon/evening or during weekends. We love travelling and exploring in Tassie, so have a lot of local knowledge to share. Where possible we'd enjoy taking you on little trips around the area or point you in the right direction for things to see/do e.g. beaches, reserves, bush walks, in the area, good spot to see wildlife including wallabies, platypus and penguins.

    Help

Workawayers will help with things around the garden, general houshold tasks (cleaning, cooking etc.),doing activities with the girls/babysitting (they love all sorts of crafts, role play, books, riding bikes, playgrounds...) or taking Ella for a walk. Lina is from Germany and we're trying to teach the girls German, if you were able to help with that, that would be amazing! We are also generally interested in learning about other cultures and would be very happy if you wanted to share a bit about your life and country!
Let us know what you are interested in and I'm sure we'll find something for you to do!
We're quite busy with work/study/school, but will try to take some time to do things together with you. However, you will need to be willing to work independently as well.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have a caravan for Workaways to sleep in, the bathroom in located in our house. The caravan has a double bed and two small bunk beds.
Lina is vegetarian and meals are mostly vegetarian, with occasionally additional meat/fish. We would try to have breakfast and dinner together with you, on days when we work you would need to prepare your own lunch (ingredients provided). We would be very happy if you were willing to help with cooking or even cook a traditional meal from your country!
As we have little kids, we usually have dinner quite early (between 5 and 6pm). You are welcome to do your own thing if that doesn't work with your routine or plans. However, we ask you to be resonably quiet around the house after 7pm as this is bed time for the kids.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We have small children and you ahve to respect that our lives are centred around their needs (e.g. early bed time for them). No parties, drugs or excessive alcohol.
There is some public transport around our area, but it's limited. You can walk to a nearby reserve or the beach, use our bikes and we are happy to drop you off around town if it suits our schedule. On weekends we are more flexible and may be able to show you around the area or bring you to places you want to visit.
