About myself: My name is Beatrix, I am 58 years of age, I am a single living woman, and my two grown up children stay with me occasionally. My daughter is workaway in Hawaii right now for half a year. I am a clinical psychologist and work full time during weekdays in a rehabilitation centre for heart and lung diseases. I do speak English and German and basic Italian and I want to improve that.

I love to work in my garden on my various projects – and it is much more fun to do this together in a team, who has fun as well as gets the work done on the side. You may do tasks on your own while I am at work, or you have lots of spare time while I am at work and we do tasks together on weekends.

The beautiful capitol Vienna is about 70 km = 45 miles away, there are bicycles for you to use as well as public transport nearby. You are welcome to join in our social village life, learn and take part in the traditional seasonal events through the year, (eg. Easter in April, May-festival, the Celtic festival in June and the Fire Brigade-festival in August). If you wish, you may accompany me for the 3 day international Kayak event in May. Come and learn about homestyle cooking and preparing food for conservation. Hospitality and internet is provided during daytime. There is also a pool in the garden to be used during the summer, when it’s warm enough. Close by is a model airfield where hobby pilots practice over the weekends.

    Help

I started my project in creating a pond and little stream in my garden. It is about to be finalised and thus I am looking for interested people, who are willing to help me. A few technical items need to be established (lights, pumps, filters) as well as the final design, how the pond should look like, when it is done. The picture in my head is, it shall be an “eye-catcher” in the garden, as if it has been there naturally. The stream flowing into the pond, the spring and the tiny waterfalls need to be born out of the riverbed! And last but not least, the little stream needs a wooden foot bridge, of course! Ideas and additional little details from your side are warmly well come!
After finishing the stone tasks at the stream and pond, waterlilies and other aquatic plants want to be put in the right places to round up the picture.

There is also a vegetable garden and a herbal garden to be looked after. I grow vegetables in the summer (tomatoes, salad, cucumbers, chillies, radishes, peas, beans, beet roots, carrots, onions, Swiss chard, spinach, ….) and fruits (raspberries, strawberries, apple, apricots, pears, cherries, mulberries, red, white and black currant, blackberries, ….). A variety of herbs for spicing up the food and about six different types of mint. I have an open fireplace, where we have barbeques or just sit around it and watch the greatness of fire.
A few chicken and a pair of ducks live with me, too. Hopefully, they will brood again like every year, so we will have babies.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

I can host up to four volunteers indoor in a shared apartment at the same time.
I have a separate small apartment, consisting of two rooms: a bigger one, with a double bed and a single bed, and a smaller room with an additional single bed, a kitchen unit and a bathroom unit. The toilette though is downstairs. Once a week there is a Joga class taking place for two hours. You are welcome to join them or you leave the place for this period of time.
You may come and stay in a tent, if you like, or bring your own camper.

During weekdays we will share our dinner when I return from my full time job. On weekends you are welcome to join me in the kitchen and watch and learn how traditional Austrian food is prepaired. Breakfast will be provided the day before, because I leave very early in the morning. You also have your own fridge and stove, to cook for yourself, if you want. A variety of ingredients will be picked fresh form the garden. There is always enough food around, especially homemade bakeries like cookies and cakes.

    What else ...

I am a no smoking, no drugs, no alcohol or anything similar household - I expect you to respect that. Please bring your own health insurance and be at least 18 years old if you want to stay with me. You might be lucky and may earn some pocket money at the close strawberry farm during the strawberry-season in May and June by picking strawberries! : I live in a small village in the country side, birds are singing and I am surrounded by agricultural fields, a peacefull place with a great view on mountains.
