Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are New Zealanders with an extensive background in resource management and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages). Julie is qualified and experienced to develop visitors' English language skills, and Mike has an extensive knowledge of New Zealand botany and has hiked and worked in many remote areas in New Zealand. We also have a New Zealand protected native bush area and are about to start a NZ native planting project. We have travelled widely and lived in Australia, Europe and the US for 9 years. The Tasman area is centrally located to beautiful national parks as well as beaches, bike trails, hiking, and kayaking.

Help
We would like help with a New Zealand native tree planting project, pruning trees and shrubs, clearing away branches, clearing around new native plantings, weeding, and lawn mowing.
We no longer do holiday accommodation so the help is only in our private home and property. -

Accommodation
Accommodation is in our beautiful straw bale house in a spacious bedroom with a king-size bed and adjoining private bathroom with shower, basin and toilet. This is for sole use of workaway guests. There are French doors from the bedroom to a private outdoor seating space. We provide three meals with self-serve breakfast and including a substantial evening meal. There is a lovely saltwater swimming pool and forest walks on the property.

What else ...
It is essential that helpers have their own transport as we are in a rural area that is not well served by public transport and we are a 35 minute drive from Nelson airport. Once here, we have bikes available for helper use. It is a quiet location and we are sociable but also respect quiet time. We have excellent internet availability and have SKY TV and cable channels.
