  • Description

    Description

We are Anita and Daniel, a couple living on the east side of La Palma. I am a language teacher and I run my own small language school, where I teach German and Spanish to people of all ages. Daniel works in agriculture and environmental education. He gives courses and workshops and is the founder of a local environmental association.

We have a house in a rural area, close to the forest, the beach and the island’s capital, Santa Cruz de La Palma. We have an organic vegetable garden and a small fruit tree plantation. We share our lives with two dogs, sheep, chickens, donkeys and bees.

We also have some chestnut fields, where we harvest plenty of chestnuts and, during the right season, wild mushrooms. We enjoy living close to nature and would love to share our home, our way of life and our knowledge of the island with people from different parts of the world.

  • Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We like making plans with our friends, family and the local community, where we share work, free time and, of course, lots of good food. We enjoy sharing our knowledge about agriculture, sustainability and life here in the Canary Islands, and we are always eager to learn about new topics, cultures and ways of doing things. We believe that sharing experiences and knowledge is one of the most valuable parts of welcoming people into our home.

  • Help

    Help

The help we are welcoming mainly involves taking care of our gardens, including flowers and vegetables, as well as our fruit trees and chestnut fields. Tasks may include taking care of the trees, cleaning and maintaining the fields, harvesting fruit and vegetables, and processing and preserving them so that we can store them for the rest of the year.

When needed, there may also be some feeding and general care of the animals. We enjoy sharing our knowledge and experiences with our guests and are always happy to learn something from them as well.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have different accommodation options, depending on which place is available at the time of your visit.

One option is our apartment at our house.

Another option is an additional room we have outside in our garden.

We will let you know which accommodation is available for your stay.

We are happy to share meals and enjoy the cultural exchange around food whenever our schedules allow. We generally provide access to food and ingredients, and the exact arrangement can be flexible depending on our routines and the type of help involved. Workawayers are welcome to prepare their own meals as well, and we can discuss the best arrangement together before the stay.
