    Description

We’re a small family living on a peaceful homestead about 15 minutes from Golden, BC, surrounded by mountains. We're looking for someone to help with gardening, help around the property, and childcare for our sweet and busy 3-year-old daughter. We are thinking around 4–5 hours a day, 5 days a week but can be flexible depending on rhythms. We don't have animals and just grow enough food for our family and friends. Always lots to do around the property and we would be happy to share a piece of our little heaven in exchange for a lending hand.

We are not a business and only produce for our own consumption.

    Accommodation:
Option to stay in the main house or can sleep in your own cabin (with WiFi and privacy) and share the bathroom and kitchen in the main house.

    Food:
We’re flexible with meals. We usually share dinners and keep things casual for breakfast/lunch. We use fresh garden produce when available.

    Ideal For:
Someone who loves nature, enjoys the company of toddlers, and is happy to unplug a little and live simply. If you're kind, reliable, and don’t mind getting your hands in the dirt, you’ll feel at home here.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Workawayers staying with us will experience quiet rural mountain life just outside Golden, BC, and get a feel for small-town Canadian culture. Living here means spending time in nature, enjoying a slower pace of life, and being part of everyday family routines with our young child. You’ll also gain experience helping with basic gardening, simple outdoor projects, and general property upkeep.

We aim to make Workawayers feel like part of our household, helping alongside us and sharing meals or activities when possible. While we are not experts, we’re happy to share what we know about maintaining a rural property and basic gardening, and learning together as we go.

We also enjoy learning from our guests—about their cultures, foods, languages, and perspectives—and value the cultural exchange that comes from welcoming people from different parts of the world into our home.
