Description
We are an easy going family looking for help on our little homestead in the Spanish mountains. We have a 13 hectares in the beautiful province of Asturias.
The 13 hectares has been used for cattle farming for the last 50 years and we are in the process of getting to grips with the land, rewilding lots of it for wildlife whilst also being self sufficient to feed ourselves.
The tasks are variable, from helping with the animals, to cooking meals for everyone in the kitchen, as well as playing with our 2 sons (5 years & 3 years), there is always something to do, from weeding or planting in the veg patch, helping in the food forest, or perhaps digging a pond.
We also really would love some artists who are interested in doing nature murals.
We have been rewilding our Finca for 6 years, and Luke is a nature guide so if you're looking to learn about rewilding, and about wildlife, then we are happy to share.
We love having Workawayers, it's amazing our little boys have been able to learn from Dutch, Italian, German, Spanish and American workawayers. We are always looking for new ideas, so please do share, perhaps you've experienced rewilding techniques elsewhere, tell us about them!
We have 3 dogs, horses, cattle, chickens and ducks. All our animals are very friendly and have grown up around our two young boys, but are largest dog is BIG, so if you're uncomfortable around dogs we may not be the place for you.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We live in a wonderful area with lots of fiestas over the summer, amazing hikes, horse riding, canoeing and the coast just 10 miles away and the mountains of the Picos de Europa a similar distance. We can offer lifts into town and elsewhere when we're heading that way, use of bicycles etc.
We're still working on our Spanish but are happy to practice and there are lots of friendly locals to practice with too.

Help
General help around the finca, maintaining paths, cleaning out animal areas, creating ponds, cooking, weeding the veg patch, clearing areas, artwork and sculpture creation always welcomed.

What else ...
We are a 20 minute walk into the centre of Arriondas full of bars, shops and the River Sella, famous for the Descenso del Sella canoe race in August. As written above, we can offer lifts into town most days and elsewhere if we have space and are heading somewhere. There is a little train in Arriondas that goes to Oviedo in one direction and the coast the other, plus regular buses around the area. We also have 2 new mountain bikes available for your use.
Cangas de Onis is a 20 minute drive from us, a bit more touristy and the gateway to the Picos de Europa. We can set you up on hiking to the Cares gorge and up into the mountains but we also have great hikes up into El Sueve right from our front door.
