  • Description

    Hi Potential work awayer's,

We have a family farm ( 5000 Ha) +- 70 km out of Rehoboth, ( Closest town) and +- 160 km out of Windhoek ( Capital City), My husband Bayer and my eldest Son, stays mostly on the farm where they farm with Simbra's. WE have a lot of wild horses on the farm and would love help to tame them for any horse lovers as a hobby.
I am full time employed as a Cabin Safety Inspector in Windhoek where our 2 Boys are at University and only goes to the farm every 2nd weekend. As a hobby I am alternative journey practitioner and a breathwork instructor amongst other healing modalities.

We are looking for Workawayers who could assist in developing a Permaculture farm on about 10 hectors of land.
We would also like to set up a permaculture garden. We are currently busy making swails and started with a small garden to plant seedlings for the future of the permaculture setting.
Anyone with the knowledge to build greenhouses, ideas on how to maintain gardens, design of a permaculture farm, composting, worm farming and who loves nature is more than welcome.
Bayer my husband is also starting with sustainable farming and anyone with knowledge in it is most welcome to come and assist. We also have chickens and sheep's on the farm.

Workawayers will be offered meals with the family when they are on the farm and cooking themselves when they are alone. Free accommodation in a Caravan. people that can operate on their own and with initiative are most welcome to spend their time towards permaculture design, assisting in the garden and assisting with feeding of chickens. A project book is available and awayers can discuss with us what they are interested to do or capable to do as a hobby.
Your assistance, where you are capable and where you can contribute will be appreciated, but you will not be made to do anything you cannot do. It will be more like a holiday away from home where you can create anything on the farm with what ever is available on the farm.

Workawayers will be accommodate in a Caravan (therefore one person at a time or a couple) with their own privacy. We have a small farmhouse where we stay over weekends. Volunteers will have to be able to stay alone on the farm with the farm workers and the manager.
Volunteers will be required to buy their own food for day to day living and will have to clean their accommodation. There is no house help on the farm. Family will be on farm over weekends and awayers will share meal with the family when they are there.

You can use weekends to explore the rest of Namibia ( at your own cost) close attractions are Lake Oanob Resort, Gamsberg, Solitaire, Sossusvlei, Daan Viljoen, Hardap Dam, Gocheganas, Swakopmund ( 400 km), Solitaire, Windhoek. Accommodation can be arranged for you if you spend the weekend in Rehoboth or Windhoek only. if you want to visit Windhoek or spend time in Rehoboth, we can accommodate you in our house.

Transport will be arranged for you from Windhoek to the farm. Minimum stay of 2 weeks and maximum stays of 3 months.

If you really just need a break and want to experience farming the old style, switching off from the day to day hustle, walk in nature without a mask, (yes there is no TV, radio and you need to walk a distance for internet connection), you are most welcome to spend time with our family on our farm. We do have solar panels for lights and making use of gas for cooking as an alternative to the wood stove and wood warm water heater.

Ps, you will have free reign on the farm as far as designing pathways, gardening. If you are into horses there are a lot of wild horses on the farm that can be tamed, but that will be to do as a hobby.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

If you are a student wanting a clean canvas to do their art on, this would be the perfect learning curve. Or just maybe you need to get away and clear your mind. This African farm will put you in the heart of nature and allow yourself to find yourself without having to worry about shelter. It is farming the old style where can still appreciate the quietness of nature and where you can walk in nature and be safe.
