Description
Hi Potential work awayer's,
We have a family farm +- 70 km out of Rehoboth, ( Closest town) and +- 160 km out of Windhoek ( Capital City),
We are a family’ of 5 farming mainly with Simbra cattle.
We also have sheep, goats, horses and chicken.
We are currently busy developing a fruit forest in the form of a campsite, as well as a family homestead so we can live from our garden.
We are looking for Workawayers who could assist in creating this dream of ours.
Anyone with the knowledge to build greenhouses, solar systems, regenerative farming, ideas on how to maintain gardens, composting, worm farming and who loves nature is more than welcome. If you just want to experience a real farm in nature, you are more than welcome.
Workawayers will be offered Free accommodation in a Caravan, where they can have their own privacy. We are currently building separate accommodation for workawayers and any help would be appreciated.
Volunteers will be required to buy their own food for day to day living and will have to clean their own accommodation. There is no house help on the farm and kitchen duties will be shared.
What ever is growing seasonally in the garden is there to use.
You can use weekends to explore the rest of Namibia ( at your own cost) close attractions are Lake Oanob Resort, Gamsberg, Solitaire, Sossusvlei, Daan Viljoen, Hardap Dam, Gocheganas, Swakopmund ( 400 km), Solitaire, Windhoek. Accommodation can be arranged for you if you spend the weekend in Rehoboth.
Transport will be arranged for you from Rehoboth to the farm. Minimum stay of 2 weeks and maximum stays of 3 months.
If you really just need a break and want to experience farming the old style, switching off from the day to day hustle, walk in nature without a mask, (yes there is no TV, radio and you need to walk a distance for internet connection), you are most welcome to spend time with our family on our farm. We do have solar panels for lights and making use of gas for cooking as an alternative to the wood stove and wood warm water heater.
