Description
Hello! Are you the one we are looking for?currently we are searching for people for the spring-summer that can help give lots of love care and attention to our dogs. We have sled dogs that require their kennels to be cleaned, to be fed and to be loved and cared for. In the summer time we need help with poop to be scooped, kennels to be cleaned, water buckets to be filled and lots of love and care to be give to our fourlegged family members! There is the occasion we might have guests drop in so taking a kennel visit or a walk with guests in the forest is an option too! There can be days with little interaction with 2 leggeds! So independence is essential! A drivers license is a must! Dog care is central to us so their needs are the top priority!!! This really is not a job.. its a lifestyle. an experience to be lived. The job can be physically demanding carrying heavy buckets to feed the dogs, and fill water for them. experience in hospitality is a big plus, as being social with guests is really important too.. especially for our winter season. Pls note we ask minimum 2 months as the dogs need stability from their caretakers! Minimum age is 25 please! Will consider people under 25 with valid experience :)we dont hire couples or people with own pets nor smokers!!. For the autumn months we are looking for people that can help train the dogs, that means harnessing, taking the dogs on runs with the carts and quad bikes to get ready for the winter season. We would love people to come for the autumn and stay on for the whole season as they are used to the dogs and routines. Our season usually starts in december. so would prefer people to come mininum one month before that time to get to know the dogs and routines and stay on till at least feb-march. Best would be to have people stay the whole season.. We do accept people in january-feb.. but the learning curve is high and most people at that time would be considered handlers.. helping out but not being main guides that can take tours independently. If you are not a person that can take your own intiative to see work and get up and do the work.. please dont apply!

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We live in a beautiful area of lapland, close to a creek, and river and forest. the work with the dogs is amazing. Learning to get to know the dogs, getting them to trust you and create a bond is so beautiful! We have an easy going lifestyle where you just plan your own day as long as the dogs always come first and the work that needs done gets done!😁We have very high expectations, to make sure our dogs are always loved, cared for and their housing and yards are clean and immaculate. A lot of the work is independent. We dont give you a strict schedule. During the summer months its very easy going. in autumn there are more guidelines on how the day should look and what needs to be completed. In winter time.. there is a specific routine for tours and dog care that needs to be followed.

Help
We like hands-on people that are motivated and wont wait around to be told what to do but can see what needs doing! Most importantly is the attention and care for the dogs. People with farming backgrounds and experience with animals are ideal!as are people with carpentry skills :) In summer time we are also looking for people that are motivated to work with animals, are not afraid to get their hands dirty, are initiative takers to get the work done and have sewing skills! We have a lot of fixing of suits, and harnesses.. we have an industrial sewing machine and would love someone to make use of it fixing our broken equipment.

Accommodation
basic accommodation... most of the time everyone has their own room. There is one room that is shared. there is a communal area for cooking together with the other volunteers, where we have a bathroom and washing facilities.
We give a little allowance for you to make your own food together with the other volunteers
What else ...
Pls note we do require anyone to come to have a valid manual drivers license. we ask people that are minimum 25 years of age. no smokers! no people with their own pets please. We get lots of applications from couples... we do not hire couples! please if you are a couple dont apply, no matter how long you have been together or love each other! we are not interested in drama, or walking on eggshells at our own kennel. We are very straightforward kind of people and look forward to hands on, inititive-taking, hospitality people that are up for an adventurous lifestyle that are stable, enthusiastic and happy individuals!
