    About Us
We are a Japanese-Indian couple living in the peaceful countryside of Otawara, just two hours north of Tokyo. Our home is nestled in a serene rice-farming village surrounded by lush fields and picturesque mountains. Life here offers a slower, more meaningful pace, where the seasons transform the landscape into a beautiful tapestry of colors. We share our home with two adorable dogs, who are always up for a cuddle or a game.

    Our Home and Vision
In 2020, we moved from Tokyo to embrace a simpler life closer to nature. Our new home sits on a 2000 sqm plot of land, and we’re excited about transforming this space into a haven for our furry friends and a productive veggie garden. Our dream is to create a dog park and sustainable garden where we can grow fresh produce, enjoy the outdoors, and share this peaceful lifestyle with others.

    Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for enthusiastic, hands-on individuals to help us bring our vision to life. If you have experience (or are eager to learn) in any of the following, we’d love to hear from you:

    Cutting trees and clearing brush
    Growing vegetables and gardening
Painting houses and putting up wallpaper
Erecting fences and creating wood decks
This is a great opportunity for anyone who loves working outdoors, learning new skills, and contributing to meaningful projects.

    What We Offer
In exchange for your help, we provide:

A private, cozy room in our home
Access to a fully equipped kitchen for shared meals or your own cooking
Scenic views and the tranquility of the Japanese countryside
Recommendations for exploring the stunning Nasu region, known for its hot springs, cycling routes, and local delicacies
A chance to bond over stories from our travels, including cycling adventures through Asia, Europe, and beyond
    Requirements

You can commit to staying with us for at least 2-3 weeks.
You have health insurance valid in Japan.
You’re looking to have fun, work hard, and learn along the way.
If this sounds like you, send us a message! We can’t wait to welcome you to our home and share this exciting journey together.

In your message, please have an answer to the following questions

*Do you have experience with the skills required for this position? If so, let us know about your experience. Please provide images/videos/bloglinks for your previous experiences? Please note that if you dont have evidence of previous work, the chances of getting a response from us reduces significantly.

*Do you have a valid driving license, a health insurance valid in Japan and any dietary restrictions. Please note that we mainly eat a vegetarian diet but volunteers are welcome to cook anything in the house kitchen.

*This role requires tasks as listed in the position. Which of these are you most confident doing, and why?

*Have you ever lived or worked in a situation where you didn’t have constant supervision? How did you structure your time and ensure you stayed productive?

We require no help with paying guests or maintenance of spaces used by paying guests.
