    Description

Hello my name is Dave and my family and I are new age homesteaders.

We pride ourselves on building a more sustainable lifestyle. We grow a large vegetable garden every summer, raise our own chickens for food, raise and butcher our own pork, hunt and fish and turn all of these spoils into delicious meals.

We are also in the process of building a passive solar greenhouse. This design has been proven to allow year round growing in a zone 3b with little to no supplemental heat. With all of this going on I still have a full time job away from home which makes for long hard days. With that being said it’s worth it knowing I can provide my friends and family with sustainable and economical food grown ethically.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Our summers are filled with fun get togethers and family activities. The area in which we reside has many functions throughout the summer months. Our small farming community has a rich culture that has developed over the decades to be unique and full of life. We aim to share this with those of interest

    Help

We are looking for seasonal help. We start planting our garden in May and our first chicken butcher is in mid June. Summer is full of building projects, animal care and tending to the huge garden. Fall is by far the busiest season with more butchering, all of the garden harvest, canning, pickling, getting ready for the coming deep freeze. We are always looking to share our knowledge of things such as construction, gardening, animal husbandry.
