Description
Co-create our little eco-paradise by the magical Celtic woodlands of Huelgoat in Finistère, Bretagne. We want to make this place a haven for artists, thinkers and lovers of all kinds. We are a herbalist/painter and musician, Ivy and Adrian, with two fluffy and cuddly cats Johfra and Metheny. We are in the process of planting a food forest (the first hundred trees are in and the first guilds and coming along), as well as doing earthworks to increase bio-diversity through the creation of water-ways. Importantly, the medicinal herb garden/farm/cultivation is coming along bit by bit.
We would like to make a sauna/hot-tub, plant a labyrinth, and restore the barn from 1850 into a creative atelier. The vision is that this place becomes a magical, inspiring place for artist in residencies, able to host creatives of all kinds to deep-dive into their process.
If you're handy, enthusiastic, and independent, we would be more than happy to host you here in these magical lands.Types of help and learning opportunities

I'm a herbalist trained in traditional European medicine and clinical herbalism with almost a decade of experience and will be more than happy to share all I know about plants (and people) as we go. I also speak five languages (Dutch, English, French, German and Spanish) and am very happy to support you in your linguistic endeavours. I am also a traditional oil painter and happy to share about pigments, sizing, plein air, and so much more... Delighted to enter into creative flow together - that is really where the juice is at for me. This place will turn into an artist in residency as everything evolves, so the seeds for that are very much here! I also have a degree in philosophy and am basically always up for long and meaningful discussions about anything profound (or funny).
Adrian is a very talented musician, composer, and teacher. He thrives on drums and piano, and loves to jam and/or for teach theory and liberate people to be able to improvise! He also speaks fluent English, French and German.
We tend to go to Fest-Noz or Balfolk evenings pretty much every weekend, and we'll be delighted to bring you along for you to experience how these century-old traditional dances and celebrations are still very much alive over here!Help
Land art, gardening, landscaping and earth works, eco-renovating our 1850 farm cottage. We are a private homestead and only producing for our own consumption.

I'm happy to spontaneously and in a free-flow manner engage in conversation and exploration in all of the above languages! I have lived in five different countries by now and travelled through many more (often with WorkAway!) and I am always up for chats around anything culture related!Accommodation
Depending on availability, either you will be able to sleep in a private room overlooking the lake of Huelgoat in the centre of town with your private bathroom - or - in case we already have guests during the time you are here, you will get another room in the apartment and the bathroom will be shared.
Of course, if you prefer, it is entirely possible to pitch up a tent on the land (it is 1,2 hectares) or to sleep in your van/campervan which you leave on the land! There are enough options...
We both love cooking and are happy to cook for you, or even better to cook all together. What else ...
The forest of Huelgoat is absolutely stunning and is just a few minutes walk from our property (where we'll be working) as well as our flat (where you'll likely be sleeping). We live in a national park and the nature all around is beautiful. There is a bus to Morlaix, Quimper and Carhaix which stops right in front of the door, and you can borrow a bike if you'd like. There is a beautiful and dynamic market on in town every Thursday and the coast is around a forty minute drive. There are plenty of cute library/café type meeting places within walking distance of the town which are lovely for frolicking around books should you fancy that or simply to meet people!
