Description
Come and join us in the heart of Portugal, close to the Dão River.
We live on a Quinta that used to be a hidden camping spot, surrounded by forest with the river just nearby. When we first arrived, the place was quite overgrown and almost forgotten. It is remote, fully off-grid, with water from our well and energy from the sun.
Together with family, friends, and volunteers we are slowly bringing this place back to life, step by step. There is a lot of potential here, space for creativity, new ideas, and hands-on work.
If you enjoy nature, simple living, and being part of something that is growing, you will feel very at home here.

Help
Life here follows the seasons, so the work changes a lot through the year. Everyone has different strengths and interests and we try to go with the flow.
This is what you can learn from us:
* Garden garden garden work as it feeds us, including planting, harvesting, no-dig gardening is a topic, and general maintenance of the beds.
*Renovation and building, with ongoing projects like chicken coops, the outdoor kitchen, and other improvements around the farmstead.
* Food preservation, fermentation, and making juice
* Growing mushrooms
* River and forest work, including pruning, fire prevention, and general care of the land.
* Firewood work, like chopping, stacking, and building small shelters.
* General gardening tasks such as mowing, strimming, planting, and tree care.
* Permaculture and simple ways of living in balance with the land.
* Cooking and keeping shared spaces clean and welcoming.
* Off-Grid life and Homesteading
* Occasionally helping by hanging out with our 2-year-old.
The list could go on!

At the weekend there are no fixed shared meals, so everyone is free to cook for themselves, relax, or go out and explore the region.

It was my first real introduction to off-grid living. I arrived curious and left deeply grateful—for the land, the rhythms, and most of all, the people.
