Description
Come and join us in the heart of Portugal, right by the peaceful Dão River. We’ve just moved in an old Quinta and want to turn it a little paradise and meeting spot for good people. We are a three-generation family, living and working together. It’s calm and rural here, off-grid, close to nature, and perfect if you want to escape the noise and enjoy simple living.
Our place is all about slow living, learning by doing and enjoying the little things. We love sharing meals, laughs and good conversations.
We are looking for friendly, open-minded people who enjoy being part of daily family life.

Help
!spring projects!
pruning, forest management, fire prevention… hands on, let’s go!
Generally work depends on the time of the year. Of course, not everyone likes to do everything — and that’s totally fine. Depending on your interests we always need help with the following:
… Many, many DIY & outdoor projects, support the Moinhos with wood projects, small building projects, repairs, and other tasks
… learn about gardening and join Jess in the cottage garden
… help with forestmanagement around our land
… Plant, harvest, preserve, ferment and experiement with us. Little Steps to selfsufficency. Depends on season and what’s growing
… Help with housekeeping, cooking, and cleaning, This place needs a good soul!
… spend time with our little one, it’s great so see the world trough the eyes of a two year old
…take care of our animals, feed the chicken, cuddle the cat,
… rivermanagement! Ever set up a trap and catched crayfish?
… enjoy nature, watch the otters, listen to the birds
We’re excited to see what skills and ideas you bring, and we look forward to learning together.
!!! Allrounders welcome!!!

Accommodation
We offer simple and cozy places to stay, depending on season and length of stay.
Our heart is the big community kitchen and a seating and Chill area.
Stay with your van on one of our terraces surrounded by forest.
What else ...
A warm vegetarian lunch is included on work days. We also provide basic breakfast supplies for volunteers. We have big family meals, if not, volunteers get a small budget for dinner, plus fresh vegetables from the garden (depending on the season).
Please note, a car is very important to reach the Quinta — we are in a quiet, off-grid place. The closest town, Viseu, is about 25 minutes by car, and Porto Airport is about 1 hour 40 minutes away by car. The last 2 km to the Quinta is a dirt track.
If you don’t have a car, it will be harder to get here, but it can still work with some planning. There is a small shop like a mini market in the next village.

It was my first real introduction to off-grid living. I arrived curious and left deeply grateful—for the land, the rhythms, and most of all, the people.
