    Hola & Aloha! 🌺

    In 2024 we moved to a lovely finca in the green north of Tenerife, and would love to welcome some helping hands (and hearts!) to join us in our journey.

    We are a family of three (ages 37, 6, and 4), learning every day as we bring new life to this land. The land was abandoned for over 40 years, and our vision is to create diverse and thriving food forests, closing loops through permaculture principles, and implementing other eco-friendly solutions along the way.

    Before settling here, I spent several years living full-time on a sailboat, which has taught me to embrace minimal comforts and adapt to nature, focusing on sustainable practices like solar energy and water conservation. Principles I am happy to apply on land as well.

    We look forward to connecting with others who share our passion for sustainable living.

    If you're interested in learning more about permaculture, including syntropic farming, and want to live a life more connected to nature, this is a wonderful opportunity for you.

    In 2024 I completed my Permaculture Design Certificate and did a year-long fellowship program in syntropic agroforestry.

    I also love to share stories and experiences from years of living on a sailboat, embracing a minimalist lifestyle, and being conscious of resources and the environment. As well as sharing insights into off-grid living, maybe nurturing someone’s dream of living on their own land someday.

    Looking for hands-on practical helpers 💪

    There is a long list of projects planned for this summer, ranging from permaculture projects in gardening to installing a water retention system and building an additional composting toilet, irrigation systems, grey water recycling systems…

    Helpers are also needed for daily farming tasks, caring for our chickens, gardening, as well as household chores and cooking.

    Additionally, there are small construction projects, like changes in the chicken coop, and setting up a community space with building simple wooden structures and huts.

    There’s always something to fix on the finca—DIY projects, creating new spaces... You don’t need to be an expert; enthusiasm and a hands-on attitude matter most. If you have previous experience, that’s a plus! We can plan specific projects based on your skills.

    ~~~
    Ideally, we’re looking for two people traveling together. However, solo travelers are also welcome if willing to share their space.
    Families or solo parents traveling with children could be a good fit, depending on their ages. Children should be roughly the same age as my kids (born in 2020 and 2022).
    My children are very open-hearted and enjoy meeting new people. However, I prefer longer stays to avoid constant rotation, so the minimum stay is 4 weeks.
    What’s included?
    Breakfast and lunch: Yes! I prepare a healthy breakfast with overnight oats and fresh fruit daily. If that’s not your thing, I’m happy to provide the ingredients so you can make your own.
    Lunch will be cooked by either you or me and is our shared community meal on weekdays.
    Dinner: Depending on agreed hour arrangement. For 20hrs; we ask you provide for your own dinners. Your space has its own fully equipped kitchen, including a fridge, stove, and oven.
    For 25hrs dinners are provided by us.
    Note: The meals provided are often vegetarian. However, we follow a flexitarian diet and cannot accommodate strict vegan preferences.
    You’ll stay in our cozy 4m bell tent. Inside, you’ll find two real beds (90×200), electricity, heating, own full kitchen, fresh linens, and towels — plus the sound of ocean waves at night. And singing roosters in the morning! And, honestly, throughout the rest of the day too. If you don’t like the sound of that, it’s probably best not to come.
    Bathroom facilities are shared and include a dry composting toilet with beautiful sea views and a hot shower. Since our water flows directly into the garden, we kindly ask you to use biodegradable products (we can provide some if needed).
    We all help keep the shared areas clean and take turns with small community tasks, like cleaning up after lunch and maintaining the compost toilet.
    To show you’ve read everything carefully, please include “Las Prepetas” in your first message. Messages that do not include this phrase will get a standard response and will be declined.
  • What else ...
    What else ...
    Tenerife offers a wealth of experiences, with its diverse natural landscapes ranging from the majestic 3,718-meter-high Teide volcano to its beautiful beaches.
    A bus stop is conveniently located 200 meters from the property, featuring three bus lines (325, 392 & 460) that provide direct access to various destinations. These include Icod de los Vinos and Puerto de la Cruz, as well as popular beach spots on the southern side of the island, such as Los Gigantes and Adeje.
    Additionally, we are only a pleasant, scenic walk away from local town Icod de los Vinos, which takes just 30 minutes. For those seeking a bit more adventure, there's a more challenging 50-minute hike to the charming and historic harbor town of Garachico.
    Also nice hike down to a little bay for swimming in the sea at 30 minutes.
    We are excited to help you discover this beautiful island that we are fortunate to call our home.
    Donna (14 years)
    This is Queen Donna. She has been my absolute rock for 13,5 years. Together, we have traveled to 26 countries. Although she is now blind and deaf, she remains the best dog in the world and has shaped my life more than anything else. She will always be my furbaby. Love, Jonna.
    Bella (2 years)
    Bella has been a part of our family since February 1st, 2025. People found her hiding by some trash cans, where she had been for about a week. She was very scared at first and had clearly been abused in the past. However, it didn't take long for her to warm up, feel safe, and learn to trust again. We don’t know her exact birth date, but we believe she was about one year old when she joined us. So we are excited to celebrate her first anniversary and birthday next February!
    Hensli (3 years)
    Hensli is one of our roosters and the oldest member of our chicken gang. We have around 30 chickens in total. (Ok, right now it’s almost 60 but many of them are moving out in the coming weeks). I’ll not do extra profiles for each one of them. Just know there are many and their eggs are the best you will have ever tried. 🤭
