Description
Hola!
We are Henk and Cris. We left the city and moved into an abandoned village in the Galician countryside.
We are learning how to grow our own food in order to be self-sufficient (homesteading, as the Americans call it). We are planting trees, building a food forest, learning about nature, and we live together with chickens, pigs, dogs, cats and horses.
We can use a hand in the garden/food forest and with taking care of the animals, such as walking with the horses. As we have some experience with this, you can learn from us about gardening and homesteading, and we are also interested in learning from you.
Professionally, Cris is a dance teacher and studying acupuncturist. Henk is an editor and journalist for a newspaper in the Netherlands.
Our house is a 20 minutes drive from the nearest beaches. In the surrounding area there is forest to explore. There runs a small river through the valley and there are various places to bath in it. Cris gives a weekly dance/movement/body consciousness class in town. Most weeks on Wednesdays we play football with the neighbours.
We cook often with food from our own garden and we get the most delicious bread at the artisinal bakery in a neighbouring village. Cris is a great cook, she used to own a restaurant in Barcelona. And of course we can adapt meals to your needs.
Since we are still in the process of renovating our house, which had been abandoned for 40 years before we moved in in januari 2024, sleeping accomodation is a tent. If you have a camper van, you are very welcome to park it here.
Contact us if you are interested! We're looking forward to hear from you.
Cheers,
Cris and Henk -

Accommodation
For the moment, all we can offer as sleeping accomodation are tents and mattresses. We are currently still renovating our house. We have a bathroom and kitchen. If you are traveling with a van, you can park it here. The surrounding fields are beautiful for camping though, with a view over the valley.
We cook with food from our garden and from shops in the nearby city. We buy bread at the bakery in a neighbouring village. Cris is a great chef, she used to own a restaurant in Barcelona. And of course we can adapt meals to your needs. -
What else ...
Ideally you have a car at your disposal, because our house is not at walking distance from the nearest town. The beach is a 20 minute drive.
