Description
We are a retired Swiss couple living on a beautiful tanya (a big farmhouse) in the middle of the famous Hungarian puszta. A lovely garden and a big swimmingpool as well as your own room with bathroom en-suite and Internet access are awaiting you.
Around the house extend big pastures for the horses. We own 4 horses (1 thoroughbred, 2 Hungarian horses for the coach and also for riding and 1 Holsteiner mare.
We share our home with 6 dogs, all of them coming from animal shelters.
We would be happy to welcome a volunteer who loves horses and dogs and is an experienced and good rider. We have our own guesthouse where the volunteer can lodge. We also need help with the garden and the pastures. And cooking nice meals would be greatly appreciated 😊.
As we live in the middle of the puszta a driving licence would be very useful. We have an old station car for use for our workaways.
The airport is quite near, only 1 hour by car. Easyjet, Wizzair and other cheap airlines fly to Budapest. From the airport you reach us by train in 1,5 hours and the train costs around 12 €.
We will pick you up at the train station near us in Kistelek.
We only welcome workawayers who can stay at lesast 2 weeks or even longer. Minimal stay are 2 weeks!

We are located in the famous hungarian Puszta. The volunteer may use one of our two cars. Budapest and Szeged (beautiful Art Nouveau cities) are easy reachable by car in 70 minutes (Budapest) and 30 minutes (Szeged). The next small city is approx. 10 minutes from our tanya.
In this small city called Kiskunmajsa you'll find a big thermal bath with fun park, restaurants, etc.

The Tanya is surrounded by pure nature, a lot of wild peaches, apple trees, grapes and fields made for galloping!

Heni and Anna spent a month with us on our Tanya. Anna is a very good rider and looked after our horses. Heni is an excellent gardener and also cooks very well. Both loved our dogs and went on walks with them. We enjoyed their stay very much. They are very likeable girls, reliable and trustworthy. Our house is always open for them.

We were very happy with Thaana - she is such a great workawayer! Really good with horses in all aspects, she could even ride our difficult Achal Teke and she lounges very well, too. And our 8 dogs just adored her and so did we!

Me and Hannah spent two weeks in summer with Bice and Jürg. It was such a great time and I already miss them both and all the dogs and horses!
