    Description

We are Bryant and Anke, a Mexican-Belgian couple, and we opened up our home to share it with travelers and visitors from all over the world. We live on site and are the only staff in the hostel, besides you, our future volunteer! Volunteers are a part of our travel family and we do everything to make them feel at home.

The hostel is located in an authentic local neighbourhood of San José del Cabo, 15 minutes walking from the historical city center & only a short bus ride away to the best beaches in the area!
The hostel is small but very comfortable and has everything you need to enjoy life in Los Cabos. A terrace at the front of the hostel with plenty of shade and the occasional colibri visitor, a garden with glamping rooms & a patio ideal for game nights and evenings shared with hostel friends, but also a fully equiped shared kitchen (with oven), two brand new bathrooms and soft, comfy beds. The shared dorm where our volunteer stays has bunk beds with privacy curtains, personal nightlight and plugs + a personal locker.

Los Cabos is a true nature & adventure lovers paradise! During winter, whales migrate to the warmer waters of the Gulf of California and whale breechings can be seen from the nearest beach...also mobula ray migration, dolphins; orcas and marlins, sea lions, corals and plenty of fish... it's a great place to be if you like diving & snorkeling! Also hiking, camping, waterfalls, hot springs, deserted beaches, the weekly art walk, ranchos and pueblo magicos, the best sunsets of Mexico...there's no shortage of things to see, do and experience!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Since we’re a Mexican-Belgian duo, we can offer you insights in Mexican culture, language, food, Baja culture & customs; as well as offer a language exchange (Anke is proficient in Dutch, French, German, Spanish & English)

As a volunteer, you highly likely partake in the social activities organized in the hostel & if everything goes well, we might even take you on a day trip to some of our favorite spots in Baja Sur

Wanted: A social, easy going person who loves exploring a new environment and doesn't shy away from a dirty toilet or two.

As a small, shiny new hostel we are looking for volunteers to help us grow our hostel, build a community and offer the best of Baja to our guests.

As our volunteer, we hope you'll fall in love with the Baja Peninsula, just like we did, we want you to have the time to explore - alone or with newly made hostel friends - and make unforgettable memories of your time in Los Cabos.

What can you expect during your time in Whale Tales:
    - A warm & open environment, where you are a part of our hostel family
    - A bed in a shared dorm
    - Daily breakfast
    - Free laundry + free coffee & tea, the occasional free food (did somebody say pizza night?)
    - A waterfall of tips & tricks on where to go and what to do while in Baja California Sur

What do we expect of our volunteers:

20 hours of work per week (4 days on, 3 days off)

    Tasks include:
    - Help keeping our rooms, common areas and outdoor areas sparkly shiny clean
    - Help keeping our plants alive
    - Assist with the check-in and check-out of fellow travelers + give them a little tour of the hostel
    - Organize micro-adventures & events: take your hostel buddies on a hike to the nearby viewpoint, organize game night, sunset views on the beach,...
