We had a lot of interesting talks with Crystal, she is a very open-minded, generous and funny woman (who also makes the best salad dressing in whole BC😉). So I would definitely recommend this place!

The work is really easy - I helped with the dishes and tidying up the house, did some gardening with Crystal and mostly went for walks with Aries. Crystal made sure I was happy with what I was doing and could explore the island.
I recommend Crystal, she's a great host who will make you feel cared for!

… read more evenings with Crystal on the beach at sunset or on her porch. My chores were walking the dog, doing the dishes, and helping with the move. Walking the dog is a great pleasure. Aries is the most loving and easy to care for dog. The washing up is done quickly. Regarding the move, I only had smaller jobs to do like taking down a fence, cleaning out flower pots, or sorting things. Crytsal's children are also super cute and I could take them directly into my heart. So I highly recommend Crystal as a host. She is a person you don't forget. I really hope that I can be her host in Germany. Gabriola is definitely worth a visit as well. There are so many beaches and trails to explore and you see so many different animals. What a wonderful time!
We stayed with Crystal for 3 weeks. Originally we were only going to stay with her for 2 weeks, but we had such a good time that we extended our stay.
Crystal is such a warm, fun, caring, loving and wise young woman. She happily took us into her home on very short notice and gave us a wonderful stay.
The work was really easy
… read more and not hard at all. We had to regularly wash the dishes, empty the compost, sweep the kitchen floor and take Aries for long walks. Occasionally we had little extra chores. Crystal is very understanding and told us on her own that it was okay if we didn't take Aries out in very hot weather, for example.
We spent most of our time exploring the island with her lovely dog Aries. We fell in love with this dog and it was always fun to go on long walks with him, play endless fetch or swim in the ocean with him.
Crystal always made sure we had a good time, because that is her main goal for her workaways. She provided us with many opportunities for activities such as going to the beach with her, meeting her friends, paddle boarding, having a bonfire in her backyard and meeting her lovely family. Crystal and her boyfriend even took us on a boat trip to another island!
It was a great time with Crystal and her family.
We would love to come back and would definitely recommend her to others!

She is also a great cook and prepared delicious meals. Our main 'task' was walking Aries for about three hours everyday. This was such a pleasure that it does not qualify as work. He is an amazing dog who we fell in love with. We discovered the local tracks and trails with him, of which there are so many on Gabriola. Crystal's kids are adorable and her whole family was just so welcoming and kind to us. … read more Interacting with both Lina and Jan was so enjoyable, they have very calm dameners and at the same time have an excitement for life, its just the nicest thing to be around. When doing any kind of task with them it was so easy going, they completed all tasked with efficiency and to true completion. I found them to be very capable and very good at working independently. They are self motivated individuals and getting to watch them work together was very inspiring.

… read more incredible adventure discovering more and more of the island with my friend Aries. Living with them was an adventure from start to finish, each day was rich in experience. I spent many evenings talking and laughing with Crystal and Chris. Not a day goes by that I don't think about the beautiful barbecue evenings on the beach with the view of the endless Pacific Ocean, the pine forests, and the snow-capped mountains. I was also lucky enough to share moments at sea fishing for shrimp on Chris' little motorboat and sailing with him. I arrived at a strangers house and then left the friends house.Thanks again for all these moments my friends. This is just a goodbye, time will hopefully bring me back to Gabriola Island with you soon.
