    Description

Hello :) I will start to write this first before the details of the programs.

I would like to begin by sharing that I am frequently invited by universities and higher education institutions to participate in inspirational sessions with students.

Recently, one university extended an invitation for a program aimed at sharing knowledge and inspiration with their students in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The theme of the session will be related to Family Law or Law and Family.

The university has kindly requested assistance in identifying an individual with a doctoral degree (PhD) in a relevant field who would be willing to share their knowledge and experience with the students.

The event is planned to be conducted offline in Makassar between approximately 2–14 July 2026.

Should anyone be interested and available, I would be grateful if you could kindly contact me through this profile.

I will continue by sharing more about my profile in the following:
I am Mazra Yasir. Together with my husband, Ashar, and our daughter, Anne, we are a family dedicated to education and community development.

We run a kindergarten, educational courses, and a variety of community engagement programs in Belopa, Luwu, Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Below are some of the programs in which we welcome volunteers to contribute and support our initiatives:

    Programs & Volunteer Opportunities

Our educational and community programs include:

    * Kindergarten English learning stimulation through play-based activities
    * Beginner-level English classes
    * English conversation classes
    * Literacy and public discussion programs
    * Environmental awareness and care campaigns
    * Parenting classes for parents at school and within the local community
    * Educational volunteer camps including short teaching programs in remote mountain areas to encourage children about the importance of education and future opportunities

…and many other meaningful community initiatives.

    Volunteer Roles

We warmly welcome volunteers who are interested in teaching English and participating in inspirational educational activities for our approximately 60 kindergarten students.

In addition, we run educational community classes four days per week for around 30 registered participants from the local community, including children, teenagers, high school students, and parents.

Depending on your interests, experience, and preferences, volunteers may assist with or lead selected activities and classes. We highly value individuals with expertise in areas such as education, psychology, social work, environmental awareness, community development, and related fields.

If you have a particular background or area of expertise, we would be delighted to collaborate in developing lesson plans, discussions, workshops, or community activities based on your knowledge and interests. Volunteers may also have the opportunity to lead or support public discussions with adult community members and students.

    Community & Charity Programs

Beyond education, we also organize charity and social support initiatives aimed at helping members of the local community living in poverty, particularly disadvantaged children and elderly individuals.

These initiatives include support for healthcare access, food assistance, home-building projects, and other basic community needs. Through collaboration and compassion, we hope to create meaningful and lasting impact together.

    Cultural Immersion Experience

Volunteers will have the opportunity to fully experience local life and culture in a small town in Sulawesi. You will live alongside local families, interact closely with adults and children in the community, and gain valuable insight into local traditions and daily life.

You may also enjoy activities such as sports with local residents, swimming in rivers, exploring nature, and experiencing village life in meaningful ways.

    Weekend Activities

During weekends, we often visit beautiful natural areas and attend local cultural activities such as traditional wedding ceremonies, beaches, rivers, hiking areas, and nearby cultural destinations including Bastem, Latimojong, and the well-known Toraja region, where volunteers can further explore local culture and nature.

    Accommodation & Meals

We provide three meals per day and are happy to accommodate dietary preferences whenever possible.

    Typical meals may include:

Breakfast: bread, eggs, fruit, cakes, tea, or coffee
Lunch: local dishes such as rice, vegetables, fish or chicken, tofu, tempeh, and eggs
Dinner: vegetables, rice, fruit, gado-gado, or other local meals

We especially enjoy cooking and eating together as a family and would be very happy to share this experience with volunteers.

Vegetarian volunteers are very welcome, as vegetables are easily available and we also maintain a garden where volunteers are welcome to participate in planting and gardening activities. Our kitchen is open and available at all times.

    Respect for Local Culture

We deeply appreciate open-minded, respectful, and culturally sensitive volunteers.

As part of respecting local customs and school values, we kindly ask volunteers to dress modestly while at school or attending community events (for example: T-shirts with long skirts or long pants). We are always open to respectful discussion and cultural exchange regarding local customs and perspectives.

We warmly welcome people from all backgrounds and sincerely hope to build mutual understanding, friendship, and meaningful collaboration.

    Volunteer Preferences

Although we generally prefer female volunteers due to the nature of some activities and accommodation arrangements, we are also open to hosting male volunteers and families.

We highly value open communication and are happy to discuss personal preferences, expectations, and boundaries to help avoid misunderstandings. We hope volunteers will feel not only like guests, but as part of our school and community family.

We especially welcome volunteers with backgrounds in:

    Psychology
    Education
    Community development
    Women’s empowerment and social advocacy

Those who feel comfortable contributing to parenting or educational seminars would be greatly appreciated.

    Travel Information

Our home and school are located in Belopa, Luwu, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, approximately 6–7 hours from Makassar International Airport by bus. The transportation is generally comfortable, and we will gladly assist and welcome volunteers upon arrival in Belopa.

    Teaching in Remote Mountain Areas

We have also initiated educational volunteer programs in remote mountain regions of Bastem and Latimojong, Luwu.

From Belopa, reaching these locations takes approximately 4–6 hours by jeep due to challenging road conditions. Volunteers occasionally join short teaching visits (approximately 2–3 days) to support children in remote schools.
