    ****************************
    Hey there,
we are a family of 5: me (SIlvia), Claudio (my husband) and our 3 sons aged 10, 5, 3 (plus cats, dog and some chickens).

We were living in Berlin for almost 10 years and in 2020 we moved back to Calabria, pushed by our need to feel closer to Nature and to go back to our roots. Here we have bought a land about 1 hectare with an old rural house. We have started our veggie garden, we are cleaning the wood, regenerating the soil. The house will be restored soon but the basic "facilities", such as a compost toilet and hot water (fire system), have been already built and we are improving them. In the meantime we sleep in our camper using the ground floor of the house as living room, kitchen and bathroom.

The place where we live is surrounded by wood, at the same time we are 5 minutes walk from the village. Close by are some streams and 20 minutes by car you can reach Soverato, the nearest city on the sea. Not far from here is Serra San Bruno, a very beautiful and mystical place on the Serre Mountain, close by Mongiana, small village with a history that bring us back to the House of Bourbon-Two Sicilies.

We try to eat as much as possible from the garden, wild herbs and we are learning about mushrooms. We do not to use chemicals and we are constantly experimenting alternative methods (organic agriculture, permaculture, synergic agriculture) to grow our food naturally while regenerating the soil.
We still have much to improve and to learn... and of course we are glad to have some other couple of hands ready to enjoy the land.

We are learning as much as possible about long conservation of fruits and vegetables both as jam, bain-marie or drying. We like to bake our own bread and pizza using the natural yeast as long as we have enough time to dedicate. We are also interested in learning about wild plants, and their use either as food, infusion herbs, wellness in its full meaning.

Our 3 kids are here with us, we do homeschooling and we take care of them. We read, have fun with music, play with clay and go out for work/playing and so on.

    Help

We need help with gardening, improving the common spaces, spend quality time with the kids, cooking, chopping, etc.
You can help with different tasks together with us or autonomously, but we are always there for teaching or learning from you.
We would also like to have some help with the daily house holding (cleaning, cooking, conserving food, etc.).
We'd love to host people who like to spend time with kids in a creative way. We have no TV, we use mobile phones only when needed and in general we try to keep our family as much screen-free as possible, enjoying the nature surrounding us :)
We imagine to share our time with you in a flexible way. We can talk together about our weekly goals and manage the relative tasks accordingly.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

At the moment we can offer a tent and sleeping bag. It can be built outside or in the upper floor of the house, if the weather is too cold or wet. We have plenty of space if you want to park your camper van or caravan.
We are happy to share our food, but if you are a big family we could ask you to contribute somehow.

We are happy to discover new recipes and get suggestions. Our diet is mostly vegetarian, we eat local meat from time to time and we avoid trash food. If you have special dietary restrictions, please let us know in advance.

    What else ...

We can lend you a bike or give you a lift with our car when possible. The seaside as well as the mountains are just a few Km away. If you have a car you can also enjoy visiting the region: since we are in the middle of it, you can easily go around in a reasonable amount of time. The bus service is available in the village.
